Wow, what a great season of getting to know Eastmont! Amanda, our boys, and I have just been so tremendously blessed by your receptiveness, and excitement! Thank you so much for your warm welcome…well all except for the scourging and crucifying.Amanda and I enjoy sharing stories and memories with our friends. This helps us build connections and moments worth remembering. Why it also keeps our attention. I remember as a child, it was the stories and illustrations that really drew my attention, especially the funny stories. Laughter is another great element in storytelling. This week as you walk with Jesus take note and remember the ways that He speaks and teaches through your everyday life. Are you ready for a story? You may know that my family currently lives in Atlanta. Well this past weekend I traveled over to spend time and prepare to move. As we were sitting in our living room I noticed that two lights were out in the ceiling fan and two lamps behind the couch would not turn on either. Well I rounded up a couple of working light bulbs around the house, switched out the lamps, yet they still wouldn’t come on. Huh, that’s strange. I asked Amanda if she knew anything about it as I followed the power cord to the outlet and discovered that both lamps had been unplugged. Then she said, “Oh yeah one of our sons needed to plug something up the other day.” Then the Lord “enlightened” me and said, “Jeremy it’s the same with you. Don’t change the bulbs in your life. Instead focus on staying connected to the true source of life, John 14:6.”This week stay connected to your Father in Heaven, for Jesus is the true source of life, life in abundance of joy and love. Then secondly, when you are with the children in your life, tell stories, stories that make you laugh, give illustrations, and influence change. Until next time, Jeremy Lynch

Several of our church members have recently passed away. One of those was Cheryl Godfrey. Like the others she loved the Lord and had a wonderful sense of humor. We sometimes joked about memory issues. She misplaced her keys one Sunday night. When we finally found them she quipped “If you forget where they are it is OK. If you forget what they are you are in real trouble.” Occasionally my mind jumps to some totally different subject. It might happen in a song, a conversation or while reading. It probably happens to you during a dull moment of a sermon (not my sermon of course). Last Sunday it happened to me during one of the hymns. I began to think about all my friends who now enjoy heaven, many are your loved ones. How would they describe heaven? The Apostle Paul used two words in Philippians 1. He said it is “better” and it is a “gain”. Memories of my grandfather are few. Ploughing with a mule, water from a well, no electricity, baths in a #2 washtub. Life was hard during his day. That is why they sang a lot about heaven. One song had these words: “There’s a land that is fairer than day And by faith we can see it afar For the Father waits over the way To prepare us a dwelling place there. In the sweet by and by We shall meet on that beautiful shore.” This week following Easter, let me remind you about your loved ones. It is okay to miss them, but remember where they are. Smile. They are in heaven. They are “better” off and have “gained” so much. Some believe we are in the land of the living and headed for the land of the dying. It is just the opposite. Because of Easter, we live in the land of dying, and are going to the land of the living. So when you can’t remember where you put your keys or sometimes where you parked your car, it is okay. But never forget where you and your loved ones will spend eternity. Heaven.

P.S. We baptized 28 Sunday night. What a great way to conclude Easter!
