In-Service Training

• “In-service training is education for employees to help them develop their skills in a specific discipline or occupation. In-service training takes place after an individual begins work responsibilities. Most typically, in-service training is conducted during a break in the individual's work schedule.”

• Identify learning outcomes

• Identify assessment measures/evaluation methods

• Introduction– Grab the audience– Establish credibility– Identify your objectives

• Body– Limit to a few major points– Reinforce major points through examples– Use a variety of media and methods of

delivery• Always present media in a professional manner

• Conclusion– Do not abruptly end the in-service– Lead into summary with phrases such as:

“I want to leave you with one more thought”

• Develop an employee in-service on hand washing – Write 1-2 learning outcomes (objectives)– Identify your teaching method(s)– Prepare your in-service visual aids– Develop an evaluation method
