About This ManualYour product may be covered by several different warranty policies. This manualexplains each of those warranty policies and identifies the applicability of each policyto various Mercury Marine product. Each policy is described in a separate section:1. Warranty Coverage—Read First: Contains warranty registration information
and charts to identify which warranty policy applies to which product and theterm of coverage for that policy. This section also defines diesel duty‑cycleapplications as they relate to warranty coverage.
2. Mercury Marine Limited Warranty: Defines the conditions of Mercury Marine'sLimited Warranty. Terms are listed in the Read First section. This section alsoexplains how to transfer warranty coverage.
3. Limited Warranty Against Corrosion: Defines the conditions of warrantyagainst product corrosion. Terms are listed in the Read First section.
4. Zeus Drive Limited Warranty: Owners of vessels equipped with Zeus drivesshould refer to this section for the details of warranty coverage as it relates tothe drive system.

Warranty Coverage OverviewLIMITED FACTORY WARRANTYAs a world‑class manufacturer of marine products, Mercury Marine knows that agreat deal of its success is built upon customer satisfaction. All new Mercuryoutboards, sterndrives, and inboards carry an outstanding limited factory warranty.Terms of the limited factory warranty vary by product. Refer to the Warranty Chartsfor the terms for your product.The details of the standard limited factory warranty policy are presented in MercuryMarine Limited Warranty.
LIMITED PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSIONAll Mercury Outboards and MerCruiser sterndrives, inboards, and TowSport inboardscome standard with three years of limited corrosion protection. MerCruiser SeaCoresterndrives come standard with four years of limited corrosion protection. So in eventhe harshest marine environment, your engine is protected.For details, refer to Limited Warranty Against Corrosion.
LIMITED WARRANTY ON EMISSIONS-RELATED COMPONENTSMost product purchased for recreational use in the U.S. receives the EPA EmissionsLimited Warranty; refer to U.S. Emission Control Warranty. Product purchased foruse in the state of California may be eligible for coverage under the CaliforniaEmissions Limited Warranty.
INSTALLATION QUALITY CERTIFICATIONCertain boat brands, whose manufacturers have met the requirements for theMercury Installation Quality Certification Program, carry an additional year ofwarranty. The program is the first of its kind in the boating industry and the onlycomprehensive manufacturer‑installation certification system. This rigorous systemidentifies areas of improvement and implements resolution before the product leavesthe factory.A section of the Mercury website is designated to promote the Installation QualityCertification Program and communicate its benefits to consumers. FACTORY-BACKED COVERAGEMercury warranty coverage is factory‑backed. Your dealer works directly with usthrough our local dealer or distributor. This simplifies the claim process and gets youback onto the water quicker.
NONDECLINING COVERAGEMercury warranty coverage is nondeclining. The warranty coverage is the same onthe last day of your warranty as it is on the first, meaning coverage doesn’t declinebased on the age of your engine, or the number of hours you’ve put on it.

COVERAGE BEYOND THE ENGINEThis coverage may also extend to the controls and rigging components on your boat.If your builder uses genuine Mercury Precision Parts when installing the engine onyour boat, the warranty coverage for those rigging components now matches the totalwarranty of your engine. This means you could have up to an additional two years ofcontrol and rigging component coverage.

Mercury Marine. At the time of sale, the dealer should complete the warrantyregistration and immediately submit it to Mercury Marine via Extranet, e‑mail, ormail. Upon receipt of this warranty registration, Mercury Marine will record theregistration.
Warranty coverage is not effective until your Product is registered with MercuryMarine.

• Product ‑ Specific product type. If you do not see your product listed in thesecharts, contact your authorized Mercury dealer or visit www.mercurymarine.comfor the applicable type and length of coverage.
• Std Ltd ‑ Length of the standard, limited factory warranty for your Product whenpurchased in this region. Refer to Mercury Marine Limited Warranty.
• IQC ‑ Certain gasoline product qualifies for an additional one year of limitedfactory warranty when it is included as part of a boat/engine package from acertified boatbuilder.
• Corrosion ‑ Most recreational‑use product is warranted against corrosion forthree years (four years for SeaCore product). Refer to Limited WarrantyAgainst Corrosion.
• Comm ‑ Some product is eligible for warranty coverage when used for lightcommercial applications. Such applications are usually restricted to a number ofyears or hours of use, whichever comes first. Other restrictions may apply.
• Govt ‑ Some product is eligible for warranty coverage when purchased forgovernment use.
• HO ‑ High output. Use of the product for strictly pleasure and recreationalpurposes.
• LDC ‑ Light‑duty commercial. Any use to the product that generates income,even if only used occasionally for such purposes.

Diesel Duty‑Cycle Application DefinitionsHIGH-OUTPUT (RECREATIONAL USE)A high‑output rating applies to variable load applications where full power is limited toone hour out of every eight hours of operation. Reduced‑power operation (out ofevery eight hours, the seven hours in which the engine is not operated at full power)must be at or below cruise speed. Cruise speed is dependent on the engine'smaximum engine rated speed (RPM):

LIGHT-DUTY (COMMERCIAL USE)A light‑duty commercial rating applies to variable load applications where full power islimited to one hour out of every eight hours of operation. Reduced‑power operation(out of every eight hours, the seven hours in which the engine is not operated at fullpower) must be at or below cruise speed. Cruise speed is dependent on the engine'smaximum engine rated speed (RPM):

WHAT IS COVEREDMercury Marine warrants its new Products to be free of defects in material andworkmanship during the period described below.
DURATION OF COVERAGEThis Limited Warranty provides coverage for the time specified in the WarrantyCharts. The time is measured from the date the Product is first sold to a recreationaluse retail purchaser, or the date on which the Product is first put into service,whichever occurs first.The repair or replacement of parts, or the performance of service under this warranty,does not extend the life of this warranty beyond its original expiration date. Unexpiredwarranty coverage can be transferred from one recreational use customer to asubsequent recreational use customer upon proper reregistration of the Product.Unexpired warranty coverage cannot be transferred either to or from a commercialuse customer.Warranty coverage may be terminated for used Product:• Repossessed from a retail customer• Purchased at an auction• Purchased from a salvage yard• Purchased from an insurance company that obtained the Product as a result of

COMMERCIAL USECommercial users of these Products receive warranty coverage of one year from thedate of first retail sale, or one year from the date on which the Product was first putinto service, whichever occurs first. CONDITIONS THAT MUST BE MET IN ORDER TO OBTAIN WARRANTYCOVERAGEWarranty coverage is available only to retail customers who purchase from a dealerauthorized by Mercury Marine to distribute the Product in the country in which thesale occurred, and then only after the Mercury Marine‑specified predeliveryinspection process is complete and documented. Warranty coverage becomesavailable upon proper registration of the Product by the authorized dealer. Inaccuratewarranty registration information regarding recreational use, or subsequent change ofuse from recreational to commercial (unless properly reregistered) may void thewarranty at the sole discretion of Mercury Marine. Routine maintenance must beperformed according to the maintenance schedule in the Operation andMaintenance manual in order to obtain warranty coverage. Mercury Marine reservesthe right to make warranty coverage contingent upon proof of proper maintenance.
WHAT MERCURY WILL DOMercury's sole and exclusive obligation under this warranty is limited to, at our option,repairing a defective part, replacing such part or parts with new or Mercury Marinecertified remanufactured parts, or refunding the purchase price of the MercuryProduct. Mercury reserves the right to improve or modify products from time to timewithout assuming an obligation to modify products previously manufactured.
HOW TO OBTAIN WARRANTY COVERAGEThe customer must provide Mercury with a reasonable opportunity to repair, andreasonable access to the Product for warranty service. Warranty claims shall bemade by delivering the Product for inspection to a Mercury dealer authorized toservice the Product. If purchaser cannot deliver the Product to such a dealer, writtennotice must be given to Mercury. Mercury Marine will then arrange for the inspectionand any covered repair. The purchaser, in that case, shall pay for all relatedtransportation charges and/or travel time. If the service provided is not covered bythis warranty, the purchaser shall pay for all related labor and material, and any otherexpenses associated with that service. The purchaser shall not, unless requested byMercury, ship the Product or parts of the Product directly to Mercury. Proof ofregistered ownership must be presented to the dealer at the time warranty service isrequested in order to obtain coverage.

Zeus Drive Limited Warranty Against CorrosionWHAT IS COVEREDMercury Marine warrants that each new (noncommercial use) Zeus drive system(Product) will not be rendered inoperative as a direct result of corrosion for the periodof time described in the following.
DURATION OF COVERAGEThis limited corrosion warranty provides coverage for 36 months or 1500 hours ofuse from either the date the Product is first sold, or the date on which the Product isfirst put into service, whichever occurs first. The repair and replacement of parts, orthe performance of service under this warranty does not extend the life of thiswarranty beyond its original expiration date. Unexpired warranty coverage can betransferred to a subsequent purchaser upon proper registration of the product.
CONDITIONS THAT MUST BE MET TO OBTAIN WARRANTY COVERAGEWarranty coverage is available only to retail customers who purchase from a dealerauthorized by Mercury Marine to distribute the Product in the country in which thesale occurred, and then only after the Mercury Marine‑specified predeliveryinspection process is complete and documented. Commercial 1‑Year Limited Warranty Against CorrosionWHAT IS COVEREDMercury Marine warrants that each new commercial use engine/drive package(Product) will not be rendered inoperative as a direct result of corrosion for the periodof time described in the following:
DURATION OF COVERAGEThis limited corrosion warranty provides coverage for one (1) year from either thedate the product is first sold, or the date that the product is first put into service,whichever occurs first. The repair and replacement of parts, or the performance ofservice under this warranty does not extend the life of this warranty beyond itsoriginal expiration date. Unexpired warranty coverage cannot be transferred.Warranty coverage may be terminated for used product repossessed from a retailcustomer, purchased at an auction, from a salvage yard, or from an insurancecompany that obtained the product as a result of an insurance claim.
CONDITIONS THAT MUST BE MET TO OBTAIN WARRANTY COVERAGEWarranty coverage is available only to retail customers who purchase from a dealerauthorized by Mercury Marine to distribute the Product in the country in which thesale occurred, and then only after the Mercury Marine specified predeliveryinspection process is complete and documented. Warranty coverage becomesavailable upon proper registration of the Product by the authorized dealer. Corrosionprevention devices specified in the Operation and Maintenance manual must be inuse on the boat, and routine maintenance (including without limitation thereplacement of sacrificial anodes, use of specified lubricants, and touch‑up of nicksand scratches) must be performed according to the schedule in the Operation andMaintenance manual in order to maintain warranty coverage. Mercury Marinereserves the right to make warranty coverage contingent upon proof of propermaintenance.
WHAT MERCURY WILL DOMercury's sole and exclusive obligation under this warranty is limited to, at our option,repairing a corroded part, replacing such part or parts with new or Mercury Marinecertified remanufactured parts, or refunding the purchase price of the MercuryProduct. Mercury reserves the right to improve or modify products from time to timewithout assuming an obligation to modify products previously manufactured.

HOW TO OBTAIN WARRANTY COVERAGEThe customer must provide Mercury with reasonable access and opportunity to repairthe Product for warranty service. Warranty claims shall be made by delivering theProduct for inspection to a Mercury dealer authorized to service the Product. If thepurchaser cannot deliver the Product to such a dealer, written notice must be given toMercury. Mercury Marine will then arrange for the inspection and any covered repair.The purchaser, in that case, shall pay for all related transportation charges and/ortravel time. If the service provided is not covered by this warranty, the purchaser shallpay for all related labor and material and any other expenses associated with thatservice. The purchaser shall not, unless requested by Mercury, ship the Product orparts of the Product directly to Mercury. Proof of registered ownership must bepresented to the dealer at the time warranty service is requested in order to obtaincoverage.
WHAT IS NOT COVEREDThis limited warranty does not cover:• Electrical system corrosion• Corrosion resulting from damage• Corrosion that causes cosmetic damage• Damage resulting from abuse or improper service• Corrosion to accessories, instruments, or steering systems• Damage due to marine growth• Product sold with less than a one year limited Product warranty• Replacement parts (parts purchased by the customer)

DURATION OF COVERAGEThe warranty period begins on the date the Product is first sold to a light dutycommercial use retail purchaser or the date the Product is first put into service,whichever occurs first. This limited warranty provides coverage for 12 months or1500 hours of use, whichever occurs first. The repair or replacement of parts, or theperformance of service under this warranty, does not extend the life of the warrantybeyond its original expiration date. Unexpired warranty coverage cannot betransferred.
LIGHT DUTY COMMERCIAL RATINGLight Duty Commercial applies to variable load applications where full power islimited to two (1) hour out of every eight (8) hours of operation. Reduced poweroperation (out of every eight hours, the seven hours in which the engine is notoperated at full power) must be at or below cruise speed. Cruise speed is dependenton the engine's maximum engine rated speed (RPM). Typical vessel applicationsinclude: sport fishing vessels, motor yachts, and cruisers.
