EIF Nepal and NECTRADE Project ` Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) at World Trade Organization (WTO) has partnered with the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Commerce and Supplies (MoCS) for delivering trade-related benefits to Nepal. ` MoCS has been implementing Nepal Enhanced Capacities for Trade and Development (NECTRADE) Project to facilitate EIF activities in Nepal since March 2010. ` GoN launched Nepal Trade Integration Strategy (NTIS) in June 2010 to enhance export competitiveness of Nepalese products. ` GoN has established National Implementation Arrangement (NIA) for implementation of EIF-supported activities in Nepal. ` NIA comprises a National Steering Committee (NSC), led by the Chief Secretary, GoN; Secretary of MoCS as Focal Point; and National Implementation Unit (NIU), led by Joint Secretary, MoCS. ` NIU is responsible for coordinating and implementing EIF activities at national level. ` NECTRADE Project is designed to strengthen national arrangements of EIF to enhance Nepal's ownership of Aid for Trade (AfT) and maximize benefits from international trading system. ` The project has been supporting GoN to mainstreaming trade into the national development process and enhancing trade capacity. ` The process complies with NTIS 2010 and the principles of Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness as well as Accra Agenda for Action.

@)&!NTIS 2010: Review and Update

` GoN has initiated review and update of Nepal Trade Integration Strategy (NTIS) 2010. ` MoCS is leading the process with support from NECTRADE Project. ` EIF NSC decided to review and update NTIS 2010 as per the recommendation of a high-level taskforce constituted by it and entrusted MoCS to lead the process. ` NTIS Review and Update Steering Committee, led by Secretary of MoCS, and Technical Committee, led by Joint Secretary of MoCS, have been formed to guide and coordinate the process. ` The process includes detailed analysis, developing action matrix with responsible agencies and resource mobilization modality, and time-bound target of export for goods and services. ` Stakeholders' consultations, including line agencies, private sector, experts and Development Partners, at central and local level. ` Validation through national workshop. ` Approval from GoN and implementation of updated NTIS.
