The final grant was awarded to Beth Vetter who re- quested a set of “escape room” type kits that pro- mote collaboration and teamwork to solve a variety of content-related puzzles. The hope is that these kits will be shared with educa- tors in all the schools within the district. This fall, the EGF Education Foundation awarded four grants to educators in the East Grand Forks School District. The com- bined total of the grants was $3,180. Donovan Hanson was awarded funds for the CMS music pro- gram. This grant, in conjunction with other donations from the community, will allow Donovan to purchase a set of world drums for his middle school students. Alison Cieklinski, the district’s library media specialist, was in- volved in two different grant requests. One was for books for the CMS library that would spe- cifically target struggling middle- school readers. The other grant was for materials for a MakerSpace in the CMS library. The components for this grant involves STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) materials that are available for student use and en- courage a hands-on ap- proach to learning. The new- est mem- ber of the foun- dation, David Tack, is a 1992 graduate of EGF Senior High. He taught in the Fargo/Moorhead area for nearly 20 years before he and his wife, Stacey, moved back to East Grand Forks.
