something for all tastes. With Lisa Kudrow, Bradley Whitford, Armando Iannucci, the Palestinian Ambassador, and so many more, I know that there is someone here for you.
Moving on to debates, speakers include Mike Newell, Jimmy Wales, Lily Cole, Natalie Bennett, Francis Boulle, Kate Pickett, and many other leading figures. Our debates this term address pressing matters of our time, including Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Closer to home, we are examining the Welfare State in a debate which could not be more current. Stepping back a mo-ment, we look at the fundamentals of our society, asking whether a society of giving is a realistic aspiration. Perhaps most entertainingly, we will see leading figures from our screens assessing the impact of the established media on our screens.
Finally, we will finish term with the Union’s famous Garden Party. Tickets always sell out in minutes, so make sure you remember to book early. Amidst the delights of May Week Champagne bliss, we can also enjoy talks from Lisa Kudrow and Neil Gaiman.
Welcome back to Easter Term at the Cambridge Union. The next few weeks are packed with events, so be sure to take a moment to plan your revision breaks. With speak-ers ranging from Tim Minchin to Michael Sandel, we have tried to deliver

What does feminism mean to me today?Conversation Starters:
Billions of people across the world call themselves a feminist, however there is still much stigma attached to the term. In a world where more women have the right to vote and there are more female business leaders than ever before, but pay discrep-ancies still exist, and inequalities abound, what does feminism mean to us?
HuffPost UK Editor-in-Chief Carla Buzasi hosts a discussion around modern day feminism, featuring a panel including Claire Perry MP, Julia Simpson, chief of staff International Airlines Group and Lucy-Anne Holmes, founder of No More Page 3 campaign.

The Israel -PalestineQuestion
This House Believes a Two-State Solution is Achievable Now
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”Charles Dickens
The Union has been the backbone of my time at Cambridge, teaching me more than any PPS essay ever could. It is from the people here that I have learnt a great deal, and whose lessons will stay with me wherever I go.
This termcard has been put together by an unprecedented number of people, with the vast majority of invitations being sent out by members of the Debates’ and Speakers’ Committees. To the over fifty members of these committees: thank you for all you have done, this term belongs to you. Not only did you produce Easter 2013, many future terms will also benefit from the invita-tions you sent.
Imogen, Emily, Daniel, and Lucy, you have gone above and beyond, and are an exceptional team to work alongside. Emily, not only have you been a delight for all who have worked with you, you have taken on more than I could ever ask. I cannot wait till we are watching debates together as awkward old has-beens. Imogen, I am immeasurably grateful that I have gotten to know you as a friend and colleague; your commitment to the Union has certainly paid off, with a fabulous lineup of speakers. Daniel, I have been blown away by the amount you have raised, nearly tripling your target. Coming in late in the day, you joined the team in no time. Lucy, you went from a stranger to a friend within ten minutes of our first meeting, and have done a wonderful job. Beyond all else, you are secretly the hackiest of them all. Steve, we all miss you, but I am just glad we got the chance to work together.
To Forzani, I am greatly indebted to you. On a personal note, I owe you a great deal and am grateful for all you have done. Thanks to you, I have confidence that we will start planning the 2215 Campaign soon. Porter, you have been an exceptional friend and I know you will make a phenomenal Vice President. You might interrupt every word I say, but I could not imagine the past year without you.
Joanna, Michael, and Oli, It is a long road ahead of you, but I have confidence that you will travel it well. The Union may take over your life, but it will be worth it in the end.
Ben, Anastasia, and Natalia, thank you for making Standing Committee so much fun. It has been a pleasure working with you, and I know our friendships will not fade as we leave 9A Bridge Street. Tahleel, what a rollercoaster it has been - from foe to friend, it has always been a delight. I have learnt a great deal from everyone on this page, but it is from you that I learnt how to learn. Clara, what a formidable replacement you have been. I could not have asked for someone more competent or more willing, and I will never let you forget those cartwheels in the Fairfax Rhodes. After one week, I felt like I had known you my whole life. I’d also like to thank Sophie Hollows and Sophie Odenthal, who took me on as Deputy Press and helped me to understand this crazy institution - I am deeply thankful for all your (continued) support.
The Union is a testament to student leadership, but none of it would be possible without the tireless staff who keep the machinery running. Led by Bill, without whom the Union would not be standing, they have the toughest jobs in the world. Dealing with a bunch of ever-changing twenty somethings cannot be easy, and we could not be more grateful. Even more behind the scenes are the Union Trustees, who devote more time than most students could possibly imagine. On behalf of every Union member, please allow me to thank you for all you do.
President’s Thanks
Finally, to those I have neglected in order to take on this role. To Mum, Dad, Daniel, and Ilana - you have kept everything in perspective for me. I do apologise that you haven’t seen me this year, always with the promise that I will be “home more in my third year”. After not seeing you all of the last summer, Christmas, or Easter vacations, all I can say is that I owe you a holiday or two. To Daniel in particular, thank you for your tolerance.
To my friends, thank you for never letting me get above myself. The Selwyn Nine, you have been exceptional friends from the first moment I entered Cripps Court. Supportive every step of the way, I would never have run for President had it not been for you pushing me to do so. In addition, thank you to my Noam group, my JFS gang, my J-Soc friends, and everyone else to whom I have been an awful friend, I promise that it will all change on June 13th.
Dickens went on to write that “it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness”. Let us hope that we have gained a little of both in equal measure.
