time to invest in a song book

for YOUR favorite musician

this year!

GIVEAWAY TIME:

We’re excited to be holding a

giveaway for our students and

valued customers! To be entered,

people know where you’re at and

what you’re up to! We get a lot of

exposure, and you get FREE

STUFF! Each week in October, we’ll

be drawing a name from the list of

those who have participated, and

one will be selected to win.

Late Policy

Are you familiar with our late policy? It may not be common knowledge

for everyone, so we’d like to take a minute to explain! It’s imperative that you

notify your instructor as soon as possible if you plan to miss a lesson, or

especially if you plan to be late. Often our instructors will use “missed lessons”

as opportunities to take a break – grab something to eat or run out for a drink:

if you are 10 minutes or more late for your lesson, there is a possibility that

your instructor will not be present. In these instances, your student will only be

eligible for a group make-up class. If you don’t have your instructor’s contact

information, please see the front office, and we can provide you with it!

Additionally, please remember that students under the age of 9 cannot

be dropped off and left unattended in our lobby. Young students should not be

dropped off earlier than 5 minutes for their lesson, as their instructor may not

be readily available to take them before their scheduled lesson time. Please

ensure that your child has been received by their instructor before leaving, and

please be sure to arrive 5 minutes prior to the end of their lesson time so they

aren’t left alone following instruction.

David started his music studies at the

age of six in Waco, Texas. The first

instrument that he studied was the

accordion, which was quite popular at

the time. Both of his great Aunts were

accordion instructors with their own

large studios. He began performing in

talent contests and festivals at the age of

seven. Before his fifth-grade year, he

moved to Misawa, Japan, where he lived

for two and a half years. There were no

accordion teachers on the Air Force Base

where he lived, so he became involved in

the school band program playing

trumpet. After returning to the USA, he

began his piano studies. He also played

trumpet, trombone, French horn, string

bass, electric bass, tuba and euphonium

while involved in his junior high and high

school music ensembles. David’s music

studies lead him into choral, orchestral,

jazz ensemble and band conducting. This

gave him the opportunity to work with

many top professional musicians in the

New York metropolitan area. He studied

at University of North Texas, Evergreen

State College, and Montclair University.

He also studied piano pedagogy with

Jane Carlson at the Julliard School of

Music.

“I feel blessed to have

had some world class

teachers over the

years.” -David B.

Here is what her instructor, David Butterfield,

had to say about her:

“She is preparing for ASP Levels 5 and 6. She

has already done all the work for level 5 and has

scored in the 90’s on 3 practice tests. She has

begun work on level 6. The music that she is

preparing qualifies for both level 5 and 6. It is

50% memorized. She did an excellent

performance in the Pops Concert from

memory. She is always prepared for her lesson,

has an excellent attitude and is always

punctual.”

And a word from her parents:

“I know that Christina really enjoys playing

piano at home and in the classroom, which

makes me smile every time I watch her playing. I

hope that with her dedication, she can and will

become a successful pianist in the near future!

Thank you EVSM and Mr. Butterfield for all

your help and support of Christina!”

Congratulations Christina! We want to thank you for your

commitment and your drive to learn. We are honored to be a

part of your life and your musical education. Keep up the good

work!
