Beginning in March, 2020 Census of Guam workers will be conducting what’s known as Enumeration. They will be going door to door to conduct in-person interviews to count every single resident of the island. Census workers will ask several questions, including the age, race and ethnicity, level of education, and work status of every individual living in the household. Residences, facilities, and other quarters will be identified and documented by their location. They will be easily identifiable by their badges and other official items, including their census bag. We are sworn for life to protect the confidentiality of the data we collect. Anyone who violates this law will face severe penalties including a federal prison sentence of up to five years, a fine of up to $250,000, or both. Enumerators will always be easily identifiable by their badges and other official items, including their census bag.

Responding to the 2020 Census of Guam will offer local government and businesses the information they need to provide resources for schools, roads, housing, and commercial developments.

Before each interview, the census worker will present their official badges and a Confidentiality Notice, and explain how your information is protected by federal law. Every employee of the 2020 Census of Guam is sworn for life to protect your personal information, and all of your responses will remain confidential.
