  NOTICE  OF  THE  MONTH

Slow  Play    Jeff  Palmer  (Director  of  Golf)

Slow  play  is  the  number  one  enemy  of  golf.    Millions  of  people  are  quitting  the  game  because  a  round  of  golf  takes  too  long,  five  hours  is  an  interminable

amount  of  time  to  be  on  the  course.    At  the  Sheshan  Golf  Club  we  strive  for  an  enjoyable  pace  of  play  and  recommend  that  members  be  conscious  of  this  when  they  are  playing.    Our  staff  has  been  instructed  to  communicate  to

players  and  monitor  the  situation  in  order  to  achieve  a  round  of  golf  that  takes  no  longer  than  4  hours  and  10  minutes.    Members  MUST  be  responsible  for

their  pace  of  play  and  inform  their  guests  of  this  policy.

If  members  are  playing  slow  our  on  course,  ambassadors  will  inform  groups  that  are  ‘out  of  position.’    Being  ‘out  of  position’  is  defined  by  the  GPS  timing  mechanism  as  well  as  a  group’s  position  in  relation  to  the  group  in  front  of  them.    The  group  will  be  politely  informed  if  they  are  out  of  position  and  that

they  should  make  a  concerted  effort  to  re-‐establish  their  pace  of  play.    Marshalls  will  check  back  with  the  group  after,  and  ask  for  them  to  skip  a

hole  if  they  cannot  make  up  time  and  reposition  themselves.      These  measures  may  seem  drastic  to  some  but  this  policy  has  been  put  into  place  for  the  enjoyment  of  all  members  and  to  protect  the  integrity  of  the  game.    Our  staff  tries  their  best  to  maintain  and  uphold  these  standards  as  a  service  to  our  members.    The  management  of  the  club  appreciates  your

attention  and  understanding  of  this  pace  program  and  encourages  you  to  be  mindful  of  your  pace  of  play.

Let’s  all  do  our  part  in  making  the  game  more  enjoyable  for  all  who  play  at  the

Sheshan  International  Golf  Club.

Summer  Peak  Golfing  Season

In  light  of  the  peak  golfing  season  this  summer,

availability  for  weekend  tee-‐times  will  be  limited  with  higher  demand.  To  ensure  that  you  and  your  guests  enjoy  a  smooth  game  of  golf  and  a  prompt  tee-‐off,  kindly  arrive  at  the  clubhouse  20  minutes  before  your  scheduled  tee-‐time  and  report  to  the  Starter  Area  at  least  10  minutes  before  the  booked  tee-‐time.

In  the  event  that  you  and  your  guests  arrive  late  for  your  flight  or  arrive  at  the  Club  without  making  a  prior  booking,  the  Club  cannot  ensure  that  there  will  be  an  alternative  tee-‐time  made  available  to  you.

We  sincerely  seek  the  understanding  and  corporation  of  every  single  person.  Thank  you  for  your  continuous  support.

MUNCH ON IT, RIGHT BEFORE EVERY GAME

HEALTH  TIPS

What  is  long,  yellow  on  the  outside,  and  white  on  the  inside?

A  banana?  Yes,  you’ve  got  it!  And  have  you  ever  wondered  why  at  Sheshan,  we  proudly  provide  you  with  bananas  at  your  golf  game?  Here’s  a  short  5-‐minute  factual  read  as  to  why.

I  remember  downing  bananas  every  single  time  I’m  faced  with  constipation  as  I  was  told  in  school  that  bananas  contain  a  lot  of  fiber,  and  are  good  for  clearing  your  bowels.  And  it  works!  Every  single  time.  Besides  bananas,  foods  laden  with  plenty  of  fiber  including  oranges,  apples  and  vegetables  are  incredibly  efficient  in  solving  your  constipation  woes.  Additionally,  the  amount  of  starch  a  banana  contains  provides  a  sportsman  enough  energy  and  stamina  to  last  throughout  the  race.

Bananas  are  rich  in  fiber,  bursting  with  flavor  and  filled  with  the  goodness  of  vitamin  B6,  vitamin  C,  manganese  and  potassium.  Apart  from  being  a  fruit  healthy  to  the  bowels,  bananas  are  said  to  reduce  risks  of  breast  cancer  in  women,  colorectal  cancer  and  renal  cell  carcinoma,  also  known  as  the  most  common  type  of  kidney  cancer,  responsible  for  80%  of  the  cases  in  adults.  Colorectal  cancer  on  the  other  hand,  also  known  as  bowel  cancer,  is  the  third  most  commonly  diagnosed  form  of  cancer  throughout  the  world.

So  let  us  start  taking  a  banana  or  two  before  every  game  of  golf!  You  may  find  yourself  paced  better  at  your  game.  And  the  additional  benefit  you  get  from  consuming  the  fruit  regularly?  A  healthy  glow  from  within.

Now  then,  while  we  can  imagine  the  pair  of  dressed  bananas  B1  and  B2,  from  the  childhood  show  Bananas  in  Pajamas,  grinning  at  us  as  we  chow  down  our  bananas  before  each  golf  game!
