Scrip Fundraising for The Arc Downriver
Scrip fundraising is a no-selling program that allows families, friends and neighbors to raise money for The Arc Downriver. Scrip is just another way to pay for everyday purchases using gift cards in place of cash, checks, and credit cards. You purchase gift cards from The Arc Downriver office at face value, we order those cards from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a reduced price. The difference is an instant rebate for The Arc Downriver. It’s really that simple! When you use scrip gift cards at your favorite retailers, gas station, etc., you’re fundraising while you shop. Great Lakes Scrip Center offers more than 700 of the country’s biggest retailers, including grocery, department stores, gas stations, restaurants, hotels, home improvement, and more. Just by using scrip to pay for your normal weekly pur-chases, you can easily raise $2,000 or more per year. It’s time to put your shopping dollars to work for the Arc Downriver sports programs, social events and much more.
INFORMATION ABOUT SCRIP ORDERING Details on the program are available at: https://www.shopwithscrip.com/learn-more
The Scrip order is placed the first Monday of each month. You can place your order by phone, email or fax. When the cards are delivered you will be contacted by the Arc Downriver office. You can pay by check or cash when you pick up your gift cards from the Arc Downriver office. Orders can be called into the office at 734-283-0710 or emailed: [email protected] by close of day on the last Thursday of each month. There are order forms and a product list at the office available for your use.
Thank you to all that support the Scrip Program!

What is “employment”?
The word “employment” for people with disabilities is often used very
loosely. When the majority of people go out to get a “job”, they do so
expecting to receive compensation for their time and efforts.
Unfortunately, when people
with disabilities go out to get
a job, they are often provided “volunteer”, or “job
experience”. Supported and fully inclusive employment programs (where people with disabilities and people without disabilities) increase independence, productivity, community
involvement and self-esteem of people with
disabilities through real work in integrated
settings. It enables people with disabilities to
work and earn wages in the community alongside others who do not have disabilities.
With the help of a job coach, who guides and prompts the worker as needed, the worker de-
velops the skills needed for more independent work. Supported employment services may
include outreach, case management, assessment, job development, job matching, job
placement, participation in supported self employment, job coaching, evaluation of worker
productivity, counseling, transportation, and long term supports to maintain employment
and employer and community relations.
Employment really means that a worker (regardless of disability status) should be in an
integrated environment and workers should receive at least minimum wage or an equivalent
wage to workers without disabilities.
The Arc Downriver is doing a Little Caesar’s Pizza Kit Fundraiser to help our Sports Program. All orders are to be TURNED IN NO LATER THAN Thursday, Nov.1, 2018. Please turn in all orders and payments to the Arc Downriver office, 1028 Oak St. Wyandotte. Hours are: Monday -Thursday 9am - 2pm If paying by check, make payable to Arc Downriver. If you would like to place ORDER ONLINE, please go to pizzakit.com. Click on PRODUCTS, then SHOP. Select your preferred shipping method then enter the fundraiser number 356688 Little Caesars Pizza Kit Fundraiser for the Arc Downriver. DELIVERY DAY: Monday, November 12, 2018. Please pick orders up on this day at the Arc Downriver office during the hours of 11:00am – 3:00pm. As we DO NOT have space to keep them any later than that, if order is not picked up, we will resell or donate. Please INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND PHONE NUMBER on all order forms, as we may need to contact you if there are any changes on pick up time.
The federal government defines "integrated employment as jobs" in
which people with disabilities are
paid directly by their company, work
in a typical environment where they
can interact with coworkers who
aren't disabled and have opportuni-
ties for career advancement.
