Dr. Douglas Taranow D.O., FACOS

Dr. Douglas Taranow is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. Prior to being board certified as a Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Taranow completed a rigorous course of training which included not only general surgery, but extensive experience in the care of burn patients and trauma surgery. This background allows him to adapt to the specific needs of his patients with confidence and ease. Dr. Taranow often treats patients who have been referred by other plastic surgeons or who have been turned away due to the complexity of their cases. His knowledge of wound healing allows him to treat people of every ethnicity and color. Sensitive to the needs of all those who come to him, surgical procedures are tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Dr. Taranow utilizes the most up to date techniques available. Whether it is subtle refinement or a more aggressive approach that is required, all patients can be assured that every effort is made to keep scarring to a minimum. Patients are pleased to find that small incisions are utilized for all procedures. Dr. Taranow has lectured throughout the world, including South Korea and Thailand where he spoke for the largest liposuction manufacturer in the world, Byron Medical. In addition to his speaking engagements, Dr. Taranow is an examiner for the Plastic Surgery Boards for new plastic surgeons who want to become board certified. He is currently the chairman of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery division of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS).

Dr. Taranow is known for his refined technique and skill and specializes in, and limits his practice to, the areas of breast surgery (breast augmentations, breast lifts and breast reductions), liposuction of all areas of the body and abdominoplasty (tummy-tucks).

This lecture will be about the history of liposuction, the different types of liposuction techniques available and finally a review of the different areas of the body that may be treated successfully with liposuction.  I will discuss my fourteen years and over 2000 case experience in the field of liposuction.  I will save time at the end for some questions and answers.

Dr. Harvey Perlow

Dr. Harvey Perlow is in private practice on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan specializing in restorative cosmetic dentistry.  He has developed a unique technique for rejuvenating faces through smile design.  Dr. Perlow has taught his technique to students and faculty at Columbia Dental School and Mount Sinai Hospital.  He has lectured on this topic both nationally and internationally.

I have been a cosmetic dentist in Manhattan for 20 years, counting many celebrities among my clients and of course many average Jack’s and Jill’s.  Recently, the public has been inundated with the concept of a “smile makeover” that excludes one’s overall facial appearance.  Our faces are as unique as our personalities, and so our smile, our teeth, should “fit” our face, blending with our facial personality.  Ignoring the face, concentrating on the teeth only, results in a phenomenon I call the “Chiclet Effect.”  This epidemic of “big, white teeth” makes the teeth, not the eyes, the focal pint of the face.My technique uses artistic principles of composition to create improved facial esthetics through smile design.  The power of this technique can be seen in a “before and after”

Ronald D. Blatt M.D.,F.A.C.O.G., graduated magna cum laude from S.U.N.Y. Albany where he received his bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
