Purpose of FRDG

• To fill a need for a faculty research discussion group

• Faculty driven• Grassroots initiative Administrative

support• Opportunity to discuss practical aspects

of research and writing• Informal• Collaborative• Sustainable

Logistics

• Program will begin in the Fall of 2010

• Small brown bag lunch group meetings-once a month on a Friday

• 0ne and one-half hours• Schedule of events will be included

on the College calendar

Possible Topics/Activities

• Pair faculty with similar research interests

• Troubleshoot common problems• Develop new projects• Develop ideas for interdisciplinary

research• Discuss academic writing• Discuss outlets for dissemination for

research

• Guest speakers• Finding funding for your research• Developing research teams• Showcase faculty research efforts• Potential for faculty to engage in a

narrative inquiry regarding our own FRDG initiatives

• We are very interested in hearing your ideas!

How can you take part?

• Attend FDRG• Not all faculty who attend have to

present their research. Faculty may attend to listen and discover ideas.

• Help plan FDRG events• Faculty will determine content of meetings

as we continue throughout the academic year.

• Potential for smaller group meetings arranged by 2-3 faculty members

next meeting.
