NEW VOCATIONS WEBSITE Our new diocesan website  dedicated to fostering priestly  vocations,  www.dolpriest.ca,  was launched  on  Priesthood  Sunday, Sept.  29.    The  hope  of  this  site  is that it will lead young men who are discerning  the  priesthood  to  discover  the  gift  of their  vocation,  and  offer  them  resources  that  are relevant  to  their  experience.    The  site  is  regularly updated by Fr. Danny Santos, Director of Vocations and Seminarians.  Please share the address of the  website, in particular if you know of someone who might be interested in the priesthood.

QUO VADIS

Quo Vadis is Latin for “where are you going?”  Tradition states that St. Peter asked Jesus this  question as Peter was fleeing Rome due to the  persecutions.  St.  Peter  was  cut  to  the  heart  by Christ’s response and returned to Rome to accept  martyrdom.    Is  Jesus  calling me  to  be  a  Catholic priest? It’s not an easy question to answer. It takes prayer  and  study  to  discover  your  true  vocation. Quo Vadis  is a discernment group of men  like you who love Jesus Christ and His Church, and who are willing  to  talk with  other  like‐minded men  about their  future.  The  group meetings  aren’t meant  to convince you that priesthood  is your vocation. You could very well be called to marriage or to another vocation. But if you’re a faithful Catholic man  between the ages of 18 and 35 – even if you’re  currently  dating  –  at  some  point  you  have  to  ask yourself  whether  God  is  calling  you  to  be  a priest.  Contact  Fr. Danny  Santos  for more  info  at [email protected]

VERITAS LECTURE The Veritas Series for Faith and Culture endeavors to foster learn‐ing and dialogue by gathering our community together, as we seek to live lives of faith and justice.   King's  University College invites you to attend the next talk in the series on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7:00 pm in the Kenny Theatre, in the King’s Student Life Centre.  The topic is “Believing in a Holy and Sinful Church” with Dr. Brian Flanagan.  Parking and admission by freewill  donation.  For more information, please visit www.kings.uwo.ca/veritas. Video recordings of past lectures are also available on this web page.

CONTINUING EDUCATION  IN THE CATHOLIC FAITH

YOUTH MINISTERS WANTED Have you ever considered working in youth  ministry?  Do you desire to share your faith with  the  next  generation?    Do  you  find  yourself drawn  to young people?   There are currently  three youth  ministry  positions  available  in  the  Diocese, and more on the way.  You will never know if this is where God is calling you unless you submit your  resume and  see what happens.   You might also be interested in getting registered in the Youth Ministry Certificate  course  to  get  on  track  for  serving  the young people in our Church in the future.   For  more  information  please  visit  www.dol.ca/employmentvolunteering.

RESEMBLANCE

The dignity of resembling the Almighty is common

to all people; we should then love them all as

ourselves, as living images of the Deity.

It is in this that we belong to God.

“It’s Not Easy Bein’ Green” is a popular song written by Joe Raposo, originally performed by Jim Henson as Kermit the Frog on Sesame Street and The Muppet Show. The song can also remind us that “It’s Not Easy Being Christian.” In his book, The Da Vinci Code, author Dan Brown writes: “The measure of your faith is the measure of the pain you can endure.” But there was early reassurance from the Roman poet, Virgil. Twenty years before Jesus was born, Virgil wrote: “Come what may, all bad fortune is to be conquered by endurance.” Today’s Gospel gives us the recipe for survival of the great apocalyptic cataclysm to come. The Gos-pel tells us there will be natural disasters and that we will be persecuted. But at the end, we’re told: “By patient endurance we will save our lives.”

Courses at St. Peter’s Seminary are open for those interested to audit or take for credit. Courses offered in the evening during the winter term include:  Patristics (5223B) with Dr. John Dool and Fr. Steve Wlusek; and History of the Catholic Church – Part II (5124B) with Fr. John Comiskey.  Descriptions of these and other courses which may be of interest, class times, and instructors can be found at www.stpetersseminary.ca/Programs/Theology:‐‐Timetables‐&‐Course‐Outlines‐‐‐Note:‐‐Course‐outlines‐are‐subject‐to‐change./Second‐Semester‐Theology‐&‐Religious‐Studies‐Timetable‐&‐Course‐outlines‐to‐be‐uploaded‐when‐available/34.  Further information can also be obtained by contacting Dr. Bernardine Ketelaars at [email protected]  or 519.432.1824, ext. 203.

FROM THE DIOCESE OF LONDON
