FRONT COVER

• The album, The Trick to Life, for

starters is not sold in the same colour

everywhere. The album will have the

same design but in the colours

green, orange or red. This particular

colour is very bright and eye catching to

the consumer and therefore will drawn

their attention towards the product. Also

shadow effect has been used on the

illustration of the front cover, with 2

copies of the original illustration. This

makes it standout and makes the

illustration come alive in a sense.

BACK COVER

• The illustrations on the back cover are

the same as on the front but without

shadow effect. But with the colour still

being bright and eye catching but just a

bit toned down – i.e. less effects. But I

have seen in most pop/rock bands that I

have looked at, quite a few of them have

‘random’ illustrations, or illustrations that

at first appear to be random. The tracklist

is placed in the middle of the illustration

and I feel that the illustration is linked in

with the name of the songs for this

particular album. (Example – run rabbit

run = rabbit at the bottom of illustration)

INSERT

• The insert for the Hoosiers, The Trick to

Life, cointains stories on each of the

albums songs, this gives an extra insight

into the meanings of the song and gives

and extra bit or something for the

consumers – getting more for there

money. The stories are also illustrated

with cartoon drawings next to each

one, the way it is set out reminds me of

childrens books where the text will be

over the illustration but only in places that

are not of importance. I

IMAGE CONSTRUCTION

• The overall image construction, and the

brand image that the band are trying to

achieve is (or visibly looks like) a unique

pop/rock band, slightly crazy or ‘weird’

yet creative sense of dress lyrics and

audience appeal. Whether they are

attempting that look or not that is what

comes across to the viewers, there music

is feel good music generally and is

upbeat creating a large fan base. As with

the Kooks their dress sense is particularly

indie with chequered tops and trousers,

big hair, smart shoes etc.
