THIS IS ALPHABEAT

‘Alphabeat’s album cover is, at a first glance, just an image of letters, but when it is looked at more closely, it is evident that the title ‘This Is Alphabeat’ is placed within the letters on the left of the first 4 lines. This kind of image was most probably chosen due to the similarity in the words ‘Alphabeat’ and alphabet. This also makes it more unique as it is quite easy to recognise the artist of the album. Additionally, the letters are all of the same font style, however, it is as though the letters have been cut out of something such as a magazine, as a couple of the letters are wonky. The letters are only more emphasised by how wonky they are in the large poster found on street walls (bottom left) and you can see that the same letters have been used as the colouring of them is the same.

The word alpha is the first letter in the Greek alphabet (therefore linking in with the similarity between the words ‘Alphabeat’ and alphabet). Moreover though, it also means that it’s the first in order of importance, this could link to this album being their first and how important it actually is for them. A third meaning, though, can mean the beginning of a series or sequence, which could hint that this is only the start for this artist and to expect more from them after this. Almost like they’re on a mission.

The background of the poster being black, with the border around it and the writing underneath the title being white, only enhances the impact more, grabbing our attention more intently.

10,000 Nights In most videos that ‘Alphabeat’ produced there are

always some bright colours featured, and their clothing is always more unique than most artists. This could be partly due to their culture as they are originally from Denmark and so their fashion and this band’s particular happy personalities could seem a lot different.

In the video, ‘Fascination’, the use of the font style from the album cover is used, which makes it more effective, as it is easier to identify the album cover is ‘Alphabeat’. In addition to this, they use the primary colours as the background as can be seen in the print screens to the right. This theme is used throughout with a range of camera shots, keeping our attention as in most videos, the photographs are very similar and merge into the same one. This way the colours are bright and different.

The bright colours and their unique outfits are carried through with the rest of their songs. Some examples are the screenshots on the left of the music videos ‘Boyfriend’ and ’10,000 Nights’. Additionally, they all have an ‘odd’ factor, as the videos are unconventional & there are not very many videos with similar content, making them original with their story techniques.
