The slow, dreamy music of the Junior-Sen-ior Prom, the lilting melodies of "SmokyMountain," the classical music of the choir atChristmas, the hot tempos of the jazz en-thusiasts, the spirited school songs of the fansat sports events, and the background musicby which we study—these, as portrayed onthe following pages, compose the various ele-ments of our school life.

As seniors we can look
back on many and varied
experiences here at C. H. S.
These events during our ear-
lier years, like single notes
without definite melody or
rhythm, at times seemed dis-
cordant. But now we realize
that they have led to the
harmony which will enrich
our lives in future years, just
as the notes of a song blend
into the whole to produce
the lasting effect.

Popular music of today adds to the
entertainment and enjoyment of our
lives, whether the preference be slow
mood music or fast tempos. Similarly
we like to think of our extra-curricular
program as providing the "popular"
swing to our school life: a program
which will suit the talents and interests
of every student and furnish the back-
ground necessary for a well-rounded
personality.

GIRLS' ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
The Girls' Athletic Association, under the guidanceof Mrs. Hilda Daley and Mrs. Ivy Sullivan, governs alfgirls' intramural and interschool sports. Following theregular class program, after-school sports include fieldhockey, archery, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and soft-ball.
The basketball season marks the organization of theref's club. Moderndancing also draws many girls from 9th to 12th grades.Membership in the beginners' group where basic skillsare learned is open to all. Proficiency in these skillsleads the girls to the intermediate and advanced groups. The cheerleading squad, chosen by its sponsor, captain, and an outside group of cheerleaders, leads cheers atfootball and basketball games, organizes pep assembliesand sells booster tags.
For participation in the various activities of the G.A.A.,points are given on the basis of a system set up by theG.A.A. Council. Earning a specified number of pointsentitles the participant to her class numerals and finallythe letter "C" , all of which are awarded by the Councilpresident af the annual spring awards assembly.

UNDERCThe underclass and junior studen
council presidents at work.
LASSMENThough little known at first, every
song must travel steadily the road to
fame and popularity. In the same way
the underclassmen will work their way
through the years to their position as
seniors. We as seniors have known the
underclassmen from the classroom to
their many other endeavors: the Prom,
the Follies, the magazine drive, class
dances, and all other school activities.
