Welcome to our Fifth Annual Bull Sale on February 14, 2016. I would like to thank all of the people that have expressed an interest in our program and the repeat customers over the years that have purchased bulls and heifers. Your confidence and support is very much appreciated. It is definitely exciting times in the cattle business. We have had a great year here. We had some of the best weather for calving in four years. We only had two rains all spring and summer, but managed to put up enough hay. We finally got a lot of rain in the fall and had lots of extended grazing, which allowed us to graze until the end of November. This spring we will be calving 460 cows. There are 280 purebred papered Simmental cows. All of the cows are run in a competitive environment. The cows bale graze all winter long. They start calving in April and into May on stock piled grass. This type of management weeds out the weak and hard doing cattle, leaving us with a very productive and functional cow base from which to raise coming two year old bulls. The bull offering has never been better quality or more uniform from top to bottom. Come look and we know you will be impressed. We are incredibly proud of our bulls and hope you will take the time to go through the catalogue. There will be two sire groups represented from our AI program. There will be three black bulls from Wheatland High Octane that will stand out on sale day. New this year will be the group of five bulls from the $45,000.00 STF Royal Affair bull. These bulls are simply ‘superb’ from any angle you look at them. There is a great set of black bulls from Remington Rangefinder and ACS Powerade. For bulls that will work in the heifer pen check out the sire group from Wheatland Nitro. In the red bull category we have IPU Red Chakota 18Y, who was the high seller bull in 2012 at LaBatte’s sale and he has done a superb job. There are five red or red white faced bulls for you to evaluate from him. The other red bulls are off of Tess Red 135Y, a blazed red bull we bought from Tessier Simmentals. A new black sire group will be represented by the high seller Wheatland Terminator 202Z bull with four bulls to choose from. There are also some great red or black half cross bulls that will add that extra hybrid vigor to your calf crop. The 18 open heifers on offer are from the top end of the commercial herd. It is always hard to sell my crossbred females. These coming two year old bulls will benefit you, the customer, the most. These bulls are bigger, stouter, and will breed circles around any yearling bull. Simply put, these bulls will breed more cows easily, stay in great shape during breeding and will take care of themselves if put in multi-bull pastures. All of these herd sire prospects are virgin bulls, which will be semen tested and guaranteed. Here at Diamond M Ranch, we want to sell you a bull but more importantly we want to sell you the right bull. Welcome to the Diamond M Ranch 5th Annual Bull Sale. Diamond M will offer 50 coming 2 year old bulls that will be the entire calf crop retained as breeding bulls born in 2014. For the commercial operation these will be bulls grown out to cover more ground and more cows to better utilize your herd bull purchasing dollar. For the purebred breeder, every bull calf from that calendar year is retained for this sale. Nobody has had the opportunity to sort off that special one as a yearling. I give Jordan and Amber a lot of credit, this is their program and it is very clear cut and straight forward. There will be sire groups so that the larger commercial producer can sort off half-brothers to emphasize certain traits, which, in turn, should produce a more consistent product for them down the road. These are the second set of Tess Red 135Y sons to sell and this might be the best one. He is that thick, long, deep muscled bull that the cowboys love. His dam has been around for a while, producing bulls for the sale and daughters that are working in our herd. A Chakota sired half brother was one of the high sellers last year going to Greg and Garnett Hill at Long Bawl Ranch.

Tess Red 135Y was our top choice from Tessier Simmental’s bulls in 2012 at $10,000. He is moderate and adds a lot of thickness and there is a ton of maternal strength on the bottom side of his pedigree. He has been passing on the blaze face about a third of the time to his calf crop. There will only be a limited number of bulls sold from him because he died out in the pasture in 2014.

This bull looks identical to his daddy, right down to the blaze face. Look to this bull to add length and performance to his calves. His dam is easy to look at and has an ideal udder. The granddam 327N, at the age of thirteen, has one of the best Royal Affair AI heifer calves in the pen. There is a lot of maternal strength in 402B’s pedigree.

This has been one of my most favourite bulls this past summer to watch develop. He will be one of the heaviest bulls in the sale. He is so naturally thick, lots of rib shape, good hair, and that perfect blaze face. His dam is a tremendous red blaze faced Titan daughter, that has a perfect udder. These Royal Affair bulls are so impressive to look at. 441B is one of the best bulls we have ever raised. He is wide topped, has tremendous rib shape and super good hair. One has to appreciate the mellowness and overall shape this bull exhibits. He has one of the best temperments in the pen. He is wide topped, deep bellied, and has a ton of rib shape. The dam 990W is one of the best producing females we have. She produced our high selling bull last year going to the good people at Hicks Simmentals. The pedigree in this calf is strong, and the guesswork is taken out. This bull will be hetro black.

Terminator was the high selling bull at $102,000 in Wheatland’s 2013 bull sale. We had the great fortune to acquire the walking rights on this true stand out herdsire. At no time shall the seller’s liability exceed the purchased price of the animal.EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. In the cases of bulls, they are guaranteed to breed naturally according to applicable Canadian breed Association guarantee, but no guarantee is given that semen from any bull will freeze.HEALTH - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Bouchard Livestock Ltd assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sale Management, auctioneer, or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and the terms and conditions of this sale do not cover obligations of the two parties connected thereto.BOUCHARD LIVESTOCK LTD IS AGENT ONLY - It is clearly understood that Bouchard Livestock Ltd acts only as agent between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure by either party to live up to his or her obligations. Bouchard Livestock Ltd does not assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of monies by either parties, and in exceptional case, any legal action will be between buyer and seller. Bouchard Livestock Ltd has no ownership of the facility and assumes no responsibility for the operation of said facility.
