The World Archery conditionally lifted the suspension imposed on the

Archery Association of India on January 23, 2020. The move comes

less than a week after elections were held for the controversy-ridden

body and Union Minister Arjun Munda was elected as its new

President.

AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal launched a „Guarantee Card‟

on January 19, 2020. The card comprises 10 guarantees for Delhi

residents including 24x7 drinking water supply and power supply,

affordable homes for the poor, free public bus travel for students and

appointment of Mohalla marshals to ensure safety of women.

The One Nation One Ration Card Scheme will be implemented across

India from June 1, 2020, as per the announcement made by Union

Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. The all-

India implementation of the scheme has been preponed from its

original date of 30th June to 1st June.

India has successfully phased out the use of HCFC 141 b chemical in

its foam industry. The substance is one of the most potent ozone

depleting substances. India banned the import of the substance from

January 1, 2020.

India has climbed eight places in the Global Talent Competitiveness

Index-2020. India is ranked 72 in the index this year. It is the

seventh edition of the Global Talent Competition Index. Switzerland

secured the first place while USA and Singapore got second and third

places respectively.

Peter Dinklage won the „Best Actor‟ award in a drama series at the

SAG Awards 2020 for his role as Tyrion Lannister in the popular TV

show, Game of Thrones. The show also won the SAG award for best

action in television stunt ensembles.

India celebrated the 123rd birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra

Bose on January 23, 2020. He was born on January 23, 1897. He

established Indian National Army (INA) and started the Indian

National Radio in Germany. It is believed that he died in a plane

crash on August 18, 1945.

Vyommitra is the first human robot to be developed by the Indian

Space Research Organisation. ISRO plans to send the half-humanoid

to space in its first unmanned mission under Gaganyaan programme.

The human robot can simulate most of the human body functions.

India has slipped to 51st rank in Economist Intelligence Unit‟s (EIU)

Global Democracy Index-2019. China was ranked 153 while Pakistan

secured 108th position in the index.

Greece has elected Katerini Sakellaropoulou as the first woman

president in the country's history. The 63-year-old was elected to the

top post in a historic parliamentary vote on January 22, 2020, which

saw 261 of the total 294 MPs vote in favour of her.

Iran announced on January 20, 2020 that it will consider

withdrawing from the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)

deal if the dispute over its nuclear programme goes before the United

Nations Security Council.

The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2020 was conferred to 49

children under various categories by President Ram Nath Kovind at

the Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 22, 2020.

The dearly Coronavirus has spread widely in China with 139

confirmed new cases. The virus was first reported in Wuhan in late

December 2019. Since then, a total of 198 cases have been reported, raising concerns regarding the containment of the virus.

Emirates (UAE) to be a “reciprocating territory”. It allows the law on
