and Sciences, University of Vermont (2009, 2013 and 2014).
Grant ($26,000) from the University of Vermont National Transportation Center to
underwrite a national conference titled: The Road to Affordable Context Sensitive Solutions,
on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the first graduating class of the University of
Vermont’s Graduate Program in Historic Preservation, June 7th and 8th, 2007.

SERVICE - PROFESSIONAL:
Vermont Historic Bridge Program. Co-Manager (1998 to 2002) and Manager (2002-2015),
Vermont Historic Bridge Program, Vermont Agency of Transportation. The program
emphasizes (among other objectives) the adaptation of historic bridges to pedestrian and
bicycle uses at new locations, and the development of preservation plans for historic bridges.
I am the principal author or compiler of four of those plans. As manager of the program, I
also authored the National Historic Landmark nomination for the Lake Champlain Bridge,
and that nomination was subsequently used as mitigation for the loss of the bridge.
Separately, I serve on the Vermont Historic Covered Bridge Committee, which meets
regularly to review proposed projects at the transportation agency.The program also prepares
National Register nominations for bridges enrolled in the program. I have served as
principal author of the following nominations:
