or call 575-376-2281

When you arrive at the PTC, you’ll be able to review

the sessions and times offered and plan your week to

get the most out of your time in Scouting Paradise.

The faculty is made up of Boy Scouts of America

national level volunteers and professional experts on

the topics. It doesn’t get any better than this!

Den and Pack Management Adventures for Tigers, Wolves, and Bears Come along with us as we explore ways to create an atmosphere that encourages positive behavior in Scouts! We’ll learn about leader habits that reinforce those behaviors and ways to engage parents in den activities. And it wouldn’t be Cub Scouting without fantastic games! We’ll discover how games can strengthen and highlight positive behaviors.

Strictly for Den Leaders Learn tips and tricks from experienced den leaders in Philmont’s own version of the Family Feud. This session will include brainstorming on critical den leader topics to help meet the needs of your pack.

Tools for Planning Den Activities The Den Leader Guide is a great tool, but it may be challenging for some leaders to start at the beginning and work their way through. Come learn how to schedule the adventures to meet the needs of your den. It’s easier than you think!

Campfires: Setting the Stage No outdoor adventure is complete without a closing campfire. Learn how to “set the stage”: building campfires, tips for getting the timing right, and considerations for weather, burn restrictions, and indoor locations.

Cooking—Cub Scout Style! Time and fun are of the essence in feeding Cub Scouts, and this session will be hands-on with simple recipes, multiple cooking methods, and a dive into “freezer bag cooking” as a means of achieving these objectives.

How good are your basics? Knots, knives, and flames and the first-aid knowledge for proper handling of them. Review practical skill application.

Cub Scouting Administration

The sessions fall into four main tracks to make your choices

from during your week of learning. More than 40 sessions

across the four tracks will be offered twice during the week for

your convenience. Below are the four tracks and a few of the

sessions offered in them.

Membership and Recruiting: Keep Your Pack Growing

Join us to learn about and share ideas on successful recruiting

events. Recruiting and retaining both Cub Scouts and leaders

is key to helping your pack grow!

Succession Planning

Scouting uses a seven-step planning process. Explore how we

can use this to build a plan for continuous and prepared

leadership for your pack.

Pack Governance: Creating a Strong Pack Committee

What is a pack committee? How does the committee work with

den leaders? Where does the Cubmaster fit in? Join with us as

we explore how leaders work together to support a successful

pack program.

Exhilarating Extremes at Pack Meetings Got the pack meeting blues? Are your meetings tiresome?

Come and learn some new tricks to make den and pack

meetings hum. This session is all about how to jazz up your

pack meeting with some extra-special elements that keep your

Cub Scouts engaged, and Mom and Dad off their cell phones!

High-Flying Fun: Everything Airborne

If it launches, soars, or flies, you’ll learn just how to use it.

We’re talking about everything from paper airplanes to stomp

rockets. Join us to make and fly an assortment of airborne

projects, and learn how to use them at a den or pack meeting.

Implementing and Enjoying STEM Experiments

groove. Use your brain, nothing to it! From how to do STEM
