Seeds of Kindness Opening

Materials: cards with text and picture each Cub Scout that is

participating.

Cubmaster: It won’t be long until it will be warm enough to

plant seeds outside! We can start planting a different kind of

seeds… We can plant the seeds of being kind and caring about

other people.

Cub Scout #1: We can all plant seeds of kindness.

Cub Scout #2: The seeds will grow when we nurture them and give them the

chance to grow.

Cub Scout #3: With the right kind of help, the seeds will grow and grow, just as

kindness grows and grows.

Cub Scout #4: When kindness grows and grows, it provides shade and protection

for many.

Cubmaster: Thank you all for sowing the seeds of kindness every day as Cub

Scouts. At this Valentine’s time of year, let’s be kind to everyone and watch our

kindness grow.

Let’s start our meeting today with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Cub Scout

Promise.

Cub Scout #1:

We can all plant seeds of kindness.

Cub Scout #2:

The seeds will grow when we nurture them

and give them the chance to grow.

Cub Scout #3:

With the right kind of help, the seeds will grow

and grow, just as kindness grows and grows.

Cub Scout #4:

When kindness grows and grows, it provides

shade and protection for many.

Thank YOU cards

Materials:

Cardstock cut in half widthwise

Markers, crayons, pencils

Introduction:

When we say “Thank You” to someone we are showing

our gratitude for something that this person has done for us or for someone else. The “thanks”

can be for something done big or small. We need to practice saying “Thank you” and say it

whenever we have the opportunity.

In how many languages can you say “thank you”?

Spanish – Gracias

French – Merci

Hawaiian – Mahalo

German - Danke

Tongan – Mālō

Japanese - Dōmo

Portuguese - Obrigado

Swahili - Asante

Instructions:

Using the half sheet of cardstock and the markers and crayons, have the Cub Scouts each create

a card that says Thank You – in some way or another to one of their friends, siblings, parents,

teachers, etc.

Have the Cub Scouts give their cards away.

Cub Scout Charades

Materials:

Cards with words to act out

Signs to hold up to indicate categories

Instructions:

Divide Cub Scouts into groups of 10 to 12. Those groups will then divide making

two teams in each group.

How to Play Cub Scout Charades

Teams can keep score. The first team (of the two teams in the group) to make 10

points wins or the team with the most points after a certain amount of time wins.

Points are made when one team figures out what word the other team’s player is

acting out.

Teams can determine which team goes first by playing “Rock, Paper, Scissors” or

any other method.

The team can decide which player on the team goes first.

1. The first player on Team 1 chooses a word card and then by looking at the card

then shows the category sign (nouns, action words, or emotions) that this word is

in. The player may not speak or make any sounds. The player should not show the

word card to either his team or the other team. Team 2 tries to guess the word.

2. Team 1 listens carefully while Team 2 tries to guess the player’s word. If the

Team 2 guesses the word, then Team 2 gets a point and then Team 2 gets a one

of their players to act out a new word to Team 1. If Team 2 cannot guess the word

in one minute, then Team 1 has a chance to guess for 30 seconds. If Team 1

guesses the word, then they get a point. If no team is able to guess the word, then

another Team 1 player gets to act out a new word.

3. The first team to make 10 points wins or the team with the most points after a

certain amount of time wins.

Have the Cub Scouts and leaders form a circle.

Cubmaster:

We are in this big circle of friends. Let us make the Cub

Scout sign and say the Cub Scout Promise together.

[Make the Cub Scout sign and say the Cub Scout Promise.]

Part of that Cub Scout Promise says that we will help other people. I hope that we

can help other people every day.

Have a great week!
