CSLI Ongoing Activities

Current Client Projects1. Coordinating Center – completed for 20092. Results from 2009 contract

– Client: deals with seriously ill patients, offers coordination of care.– Type of survey: client satisfaction– Methodology: clients receive survey in the mail directly from the Coordinating

Center, with a return envelope addressed to CSLI. A telephone interview with a random sample was used to ascertain receipt of initial survey and ask whether a second survey should be sent.

– N=480 completions. Response rate: 35%– Current status: report filed, waiting for client feedback. – Income generated: overall $2250, retained for CSLI operations: $679. – Students employed: 2

Current Client Projects2. Housing Commission of Anne Arundel County –

ongoing for 2009– Client: Provides housing for low income families and seniors in eight

communities– Type of survey: Resident satisfaction and facility condition – used for

planning, oversight and HUD accreditation purposes– Methodology: Self-administered at each community. Residents fill them

out at the time of contract renewal, producing a quarterly stream of completed surveys for CSLI to use for data entry and report generation.

– N=Varies by community– Current status: Waiting for next quarter’s questionnaires.– Income generated: Overall $5100, retained for CSLI operations: $5100. – Students employed: 0-1

Current Client Projects3. Maryland Seafood Festival

Client: ABC Events, Inc.– Type of survey: Client satisfaction– used for planning, oversight purposes– Methodology: Students administer surveys at the exits of the MD

Seafood Festival held at Sandy Point State Park 9/11/09 - 9/13/09. Attendees fill out questionnaire at time of festival producing a stream of completed surveys for CSLI to use for data entry and report generation.

– N=340– Current status: Entering data for completion of report– Income generated: Overall $600, retained for CSLI operations: Less than

$100 – Students employed: 2-3

Current Student-related Activities1. CSLI student interns

– Fall 2009: One student– Hours: vary depending on projects and needs of the moment but goal is to

average five hours per week per intern– Duties: range from data entry, student supervision, telephone interviewing

and light report editing.– E-Zine: Exploratory stages of formulating an e-zine

– New initiative – Facebook presence Created jointly by CSLI director and student intern See CSLIAACC on Facebook – become a friend

Current Student-related Activities2. CSLI student club

– Inception: 2006 – designated an official student club. – Organizational structure: Officers include president, vice president,

secretary and treasurer, elected at beginning of fall semester.– Budget: Varies annual – obtained for 2009-10: $1470 from student

association.– 2009-10 Activities: Agenda still developing but will include numerous trips

to Baltimore Council on Foreign Affairs; brown bag lunches with candidates for 2010 state and local elections, and a visit to Annapolis/MD General Assembly

Recent Public Outreach Radio: WNAV – director was about CSLI spring research findings. Newspapers: Several director contacts with local reporters; appeared or was interviewed

in articles about Annapolis City elections, tea-party. Presentations: Director made presentations to Coordinators of Volunteers of Anne

Arundel County; Greater Severna Park Council. CSLI Web site: Posted all new presentations and updates to searchable database (see

http://www2.aacc.edu/csli). The CSLI student club Web site has been updated, including both the agenda of recent activities and photos of recent field trips. See http://www2.aacc.edu/csli/csliclub.htm.

CSLI Semi-annual Survey

Semi-annual Survey and Web PanelWeb panel: We have accumulated a total of around 400 possibly valid email addresses.

– About 1/3 of respondents accept request to give email addresses.– Last June received 104 valid responses – about 25% response

rate.– Report written comparing first two online surveys available.– Received 140 hits for short version of report when notification of its

availability sent to those on Web panel.
