Principal’s Message PAGE 2
Welcome to week ten (and the
final newsletter for this term).
From next term we will be
recommencing the rostered
system for classes and
programs for the newsletter.
For this week we are including
some examples of student
engagement and learning
across the school as we
prepare for what will hopefully
be a nearer to normal term for
school operations. We are still
in the zone of heightened
hygiene vigilance and the
enhanced cleaning program at
this stage will continue
throughout term three. We
have had some students and
staff members with respiratory
illnesses who have been
referred for COVID testing but
thankfully they have all been
negative. If your child or a
member of your immediate
family is tested please notify
the school as we are required
to report student and staff
testing and then the results. A
reminder that if your child is
unwell, no matter how mild the
symptoms are, you are
required to keep them at home
until their symptoms resolve.
This is in order to reduce the
transmission of viruses which
could weaken immune systems
and is also applicable to staff at
this time.
Student reports are being
finalised today and will go
home this Wednesday. Once
you receive your child’s report
we request that you contact
your child’s teacher to set a
suitable time for a phone
meeting early next term to
discuss and set agreed goals
for semester two. Many of our
students’ individual goals will
either need to be rolled over to
semester two or adjusted due
to the interruption in school
operations this semester due to
COVID-19 although some
students still managed to
achieve one of their individual
program goals which is
amazing. We will continue to
regularly review the situation in
regards to the resumption of
some of our programs which
are currently suspended for
safety reasons with a view to
either gradually reinstating
some or explore new delivery
options as we are planning to
do for our work experience
program next term.
As you are probably aware the
NSW Government has
announced the findings of a
curriculum review for primary
and secondary students which
commenced two years ago.
This was the first
comprehensive review of the
NSW primary and secondary
curriculum since 1989, and
aimed to equip students for the
challenges and opportunities of
the 21st century and proposes
a new set of syllabuses to be
implemented in stages over the
next three years to be fully
operational by 2024. Exactly
what changes are being
proposed has not yet been
outlined but there is a
livestream this Thursday
afternoon for Principals which
will provide some clearer
information for schools and
families.
Thank you to all of our families
who have downloaded our
School Stream application.
Many families are regularly
using the student absence and
communication book forms. We
hope that this works well for
home to school communication
and we would welcome your
feedback on this in terms of its
ease of use and the information
it will enable you to send us.
School to home communication
remains via email for the
foreseeable future. If you have
not already done so please
download the School Stream
application as it will enable us
to notify you of any whole
school incidents that will
require immediate action such
as school closures or
emergencies.
Finally, a reminder that the
school term ends this Friday, 3
July and recommences for
students on Tuesday 21 July
as Monday 20 July is a staff
development day.

Art News
After being away from school for nearly the first half of this term, many students returned with
some fantastic art works that they had completed at home. The secondary students
concentrated on transforming 2D shapes into 3D shapes when creating iconic structures from
around the world. The primary students focussed on painting and gluing with sponges and
brushes to create various kinds of minibeasts.
On returning to school all the students continued to follow the art program they were doing at
home and here are some examples of their work.
