We offer this working model as a way to encourage reflection, so that you can situate your organization within this broad topic of audience and community development. There are many ways you can imagine the relationships between these classifications and how you may move among them. For example, is it possible to be both deep and narrow and deep and wide for different constituencies within a single organization? Imagining change as movement among these spaces seems like a useful way to start your thinking.

Your understanding of audience and community – The questions in the Letter of Interest about opportunity and challenge, from which your strategy emerges, depend in great part on you meaningfully understanding your existing relationship with your audiences and communities. Human resources required to deliver – We ask you to be very practical in this regard, neither allocating everything to a new hire nor assuming that your current staff can add this work to their already busy workloads.

New technology – Implementation requires time, expertise, and capacity, and usually way more than anticipated.
