Crash course in safetyOn May 29 the high school Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) hosted asimulated crash exhibition for seniors in the Junior High parking lot. Participating as ifthey were responding to an actual crash were members of the Victor Fire Department,Victor-Farmington Ambulance, Fishers Fire Department, Farmington Fire Departmentand the Ontario County Sheriff’s office.

On May 29 the high school Parent TeacherStudent Association (PTSA) hosted a simulatedcrash exhibition for seniors in the Junior Highparking lot. Participating as if they wereresponding to an actual crash were members ofthe Victor Fire Department, Victor-FarmingtonAmbulance, Fishers Fire Department, FarmingtonFire Department and the Ontario County Sheriff’soffice.

» RELATED CONTENTthe dangers of drinking and driving. Studentswatched as emergency services responded to theaftermath of a “crash” which was caused by an

intoxicated teenage driver. Student actors Tom Kolb, Stephen Page, Tristan Lockwood, PriscillaRivas, Kayla Fries and Christi Mills portrayed the teenage driver who killed his passenger andcritically injured people in the other vehicle.

After the simulation, students saw a brief presentation by AT&T on the dangers of texting anddriving, and at the close of the event students were asked to sign a "prom promise" to not drink ortext while driving.

“I was proud of our student volunteers who helped make the message more meaningful,” saidPrincipal Yvonne O’Shea in an email to parents. “Talking with many of the seniors afterward, theydefinitely felt the program was an important reminder.”

PTSA’s Terri Schinsing, Linda Vannozzi, Trisha Turner, and Nancy Kolb were instrumental inorganizing the simulated crash.
