You don’t need any previous law enforcement experience, and at the end of the program, not only will you receive a certificate from us, but also one from the California Department of Justice designating you as a nationally certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst as well as a certificate of recognition from the Law Enforcement Intelligence Units.

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

Certificate candidates must also complete “Introduction to Criminal Justice” and “Criminal Law” which you can take through Open University at Cal State Fullerton, or take the approved equivalents at another college or university. You may also be eligible to waive this requirement by providing a letter of verification from an employer that you have working knowledge of these subjects.

Required Classes

Practicum in Crime and Intelligence AnalysisTo complete your certificate, you will be required to complete 400 hours of supervised work with a law enforcement agency and/or intelligence unit. You will gain invaluable hands-on experience and develop marketable skills using the principles and practices you’ve learned in the program.

You can begin your practicum once you’ve completed two of the program’s required classes, and you may also be able to apply previous or current work experience in law enforcement to this requirement.

CRIME AND INTELLIGENCEANALYSIS

This program allows you to take courses on an individual basis as long as you meet the prerequisites, but you must apply for the program and successfully complete all of the classes to receive your certificate. We recommend taking them in the order below.
