    This budget provides $1.8 billion for

    critical infrastructure upgrades to

    public hospitals and health services

    for regional ustralians,

    so everyone has access to our

    world-class healthcare, no matter

    where they live.

    upgrading the Hume, Pacic, Bruce

    investing in freight rail through the

    ustralian Rail Track Corporation,

    Labor will strengthen regional

    higher education and vocational

    education training institutions

    through a $500 million regional

    priorities round of the ducation

    Investment Fund. In addition,

    further funding for regional loading

    will help to overcome the higher

    costs of regional campuses. The

    more Regional ducation, Skills

    and Jobs Coordinators and rolling

    out skills expos to ensure people

    from regional areas have access to

    quality education and skills training

    to get the jobs of the future.

    This budget provides $916 million

    for the rst projects under the

    Regional Infrastructure Fund to

    deliver important nation building

    infrastructure.

    The Regional Development

    $1 billion to back local

    Workforce Development Fund that will deliver 130,000 training places

    (over four years) directly tailored to industry skill needs placing

    industry at the heart of the training effort.

    Improving the apprenticeship system to allow apprentices to progress

    faster if their skills warrant it (rather than serving out time)

    Supporting up to 40,000 apprentices with mentoring, which will helpmore apprentices stay the course.

    Delivering 30,000 more places in the Language, Literacy and Numeracy

    program to provide the basic skills essential for a job.

    we value as a nation, so even in a

    tight Budget, we have made new

    investments vital areas like health

    and education.

    This budget will get back us backin the black, get more ustralians in

    jobs and spread the opportunities of

    the mining boom building a strong

    economy for all ustralians.
