Devotion the Sacred Heart encourages participation in Holy Hour Eucharistic Adoration and to receive Holy Communion on the first Friday of every month. Sacred Heart of JESUS, I place all my TRUST in YOU...!

FEAST of the SACRED HEART JESUS One of the most recognizable images is the Sacred Heart of Jesus, exposed, surrounded by thorns, with flames and a cross emerging from the top. Jesus uses images to convey His message: look at My Heart and see what I am feeling. The thorns around His heart represent our sins and how our sins pierce His heart. The flames and the cross are a reminder of the suffering He endured for our salvation and His burning love for us. The dripping blood is the blood Jesus shed for our salvation signifying that from the first instant of His Incarnation; the Cross signifies all the sorrow to be inflicted on Him by the humiliations, poverty, pain and scorn His sacred humanity was to endure through His life and during His sacred passion.” Jesus appeared to Margaret Mary Alacoque; He instructed that the Feast of the Sacred Heart be celebrated each year on the Friday following Corpus Christi in reparation for the coldness many have towards Jesus’ infinite love and compassion. Promises Jesus Made to Margaret Mary Alacoque For those who celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and receive Communion on nine consecutive First Fridays, Jesus made the following “12 Promises”:

1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state in life.

2. I will establish peace in their families. 3. I will comfort them in their trials. 4. I will be their secure refuge during life, and, above

all, in death. 5. I will shed abundant blessings on all their

undertakings 6. Sinners will find in My Heart an infinite ocean of

mercy. 7. Lukewarm souls will become fervent. 8. Fervent souls will rapidly grow in holiness and

perfection. 9. I will bless every place where an image of My Heart

shall be exposed and honored. 10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most

hardened hearts. 11. The names of those who promote this devotion will be

written in My Heart, never to be blotted out. 12. I promise thee, in the excessive mercy of My Heart,

that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months, the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their Sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.

How Can WE Honor The Sacred Heart of Jesus? On Friday June 8th receive Holy Communion on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and on each First Friday. Also, place a picture or statue in view as a daily reminder of the Sacred Heart of Jesus’s love and compassion for us.

SCRIPTURAL REFLECTION Feast of Corpus Christi

June 03, 2018 “Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them and they all drank from it.” Mark 14:23

Jesus, the perfect steward, gave thanks, just before He gave Himself to us completely for our salvation. He offers us the chance to drink from His cup.

In the Eucharist, we meet Christ personally and, if we listen to Him, we know what drinking from His cup

means our own sacrifice – giving up some of our time, talent and treasure to do His work on earth.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED... We are HELPING HOMELESS FAMILIES in

HUDSON COUNTY this summer!! SAINT ANN CATHOLIC CHURCH is partnering with FAMILY PROMISE of Hudson County

as a HOST CONGREGATION to PROVIDE SHELTER to

HOMELESS FAMILIES JUNE 17th thru JULY 15th Family Promise provides emergency places to shelter and helps homeless families from Hudson County. The families will be staying in makeshift living quarters in the Hoboken Catholic Academy Gym. Currently, we are seeking volunteers to assist in the following areas:

- Setting up/Break-down the gym for families - Welcoming Families - Preparing Food nightly - Spending time after dinner mingling with the

families and children playing with children - Overnighter to stay with families in gym - Floaters...people available to help when and

where needed! Who Is Family Promise: Family Promise of Hudson County is a non-profit that shelters homeless families within Hudson County. What Do They Do: They provide emergency places of shelter as well as case management and connection to resources. Their goal is to help families find sustainable and successful housing solutions. Why Do They Do It: Currently, there is no other emergency shelter in Hudson County that houses the whole family. In many locations, fathers are not allowed to stay with the family. Currently, our area has no way to keep them together. A mother raising an adult son with disabilities would be separated because on paper, they are single adults. Family Promise of Hudson County will be able to keep these families together and can work with them to find a sustainable way back on their feet. We Need You! Volunteers are an integral part of the Family Promise model. Volunteers are needed for shifts of cooking dinner to eating dinner with our guests, activities time and even sleeping over! There are options for all types of volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer either during our Summer Hosting Event or directly for Family Promise, contact the Parish Office: 201-659-1114.

THANKS to all who have signed-up to help us! More volunteers are needed...please pray on it...

It is in giving that we receive...!!
