Using Language –Listening and Speaking is in the middle of the unit. It helps the students to understand the frightening experiences of a volcanologist, and encourage them to express their feelings and emotions of joy, fear, anxiety and surprise.

2. The StudentsThe students in Senior 2:(1) have a better understanding of some of the

social issues; (2) have learned about the dangers people face in

1. Word study. Broadcast the video “volcano” and teach the following new words: volcano, tremble, lave, ash cloud, anxious, panic and volcanologist.

2. Get the students look at the pictures in Part 2 and try to guess what problems the three volcanologists meet.

1. Watch the video and study the new words.

2. Look at the pictures in Part 2 and think about what problems they face.

To arouse the background knowledge of volcanoes while studying new words.To enable the students to practice predicting.
