COFFEE with CHRIST: Come join us in the Banquet Hall for a three-part series titled Eucharist by Fr. Robert Barron. This series will run April 19, from 9:15 to 10:00 a.m. This series explores insights into the mystery of Christ’s presence in our lives and the centrality of the Eucharist as an important part of that presence. It takes a

fresh look at the Eucharist as sacred meal, the sacrifice necessary for communion with God and the real presence of Christ. The sessions will be facilitated by Jacqui Lehmkuhl. Plan to come enjoy a cup of coffee and a fresh baked goodie and join in the discussion with others who are striving to live as the Body of Christ.

Upcoming EventsOver 50’s News: The Over 50’s will be going to lunch on Wednesday, April 1 at 11:30 a.m. to Buffalo Jack’s in Covington. We will meet at 11:00 a.m. in the north parking lot at church to carpool. All parishioners 50 years and older are welcome and encouraged to join us.

THE GOSPEL OF MARK: Join us for a walk through the Gospel of Mark, the first and shortest of the Gospels. As we hear from Mark’s Gospel during this liturgical year, it may be helpful to understand more of the background. The study group will meet on Wednesday afternoons at

1:00 p.m. in Room 106, beginning on April 22nd. We will be using the Threshold Bible Study guide by Stephen Binz. Atha Toon will be the facilitator for this series. If you plan to attend, please contact Atha at 667-3815. You may also contact the Parish Office to reserve a spot for this event. There will be a $10.00 fee to cover the cost of the materials.

AnnouncementsOFFICE CLOSED APRIL 2nd and 3rd for Easter

Attention, all Parishioners, all holiday decorations need to be removed from the cemetery by April 1. Thank you.

PSR WILL RESUME ON APRIL 12. We will have a three week break in our PSR schedule to allow for Spring Break and Easter. We hope that the rest of your Lent will be a blessing and that the celebration of Holy Week and Easter will be a time of great joy in your lives. Please note that Children’s Liturgy of the Word will continue at the 10:30 Mass.

St. John’s Knights of Columbus Scholarship: This scholarship award is open to individuals, teen or adult, intending to participate in a post-high school education program. Applications are available in the narthex and will be accepted through Sunday, April 19th.

Coming to St. John’s on April 26, 2015: Dr. John Wood author of Ordinary Lives, Extraordinary Mission: 5 Steps to Winning the War Within will be here with SimplyRC to share his message with us. Presentation will be in the church from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Please plan to attend. “John Wood has a passion that is contagious.” – Matthew Kelly.

CRS RICE BOWL: After Easter there will be a basket in the Gathering Area for you to place your rice bowl or checks & cash may be placed in the collection in envelopes marked CRS Rice Bowl. PSR students may give rice bowls to their teachers just in case the teachers would like to keep track of how much their class collected. We encourage you to keep your bowl until Easter since the Rice Bowl calendar continues until then. We also ask that you continue to pray for the people in the countries that are being supported by ORB/CRS throughout the year. Thank you.

SpiritualOur thoughts and prayers remain with those serving our country at this time and with their loved ones at home. We pray for a safe homecoming and

that the world may one day be at peace.

“Although I have often abandoned you, O Lord, You have never abandoned me. Your hand of love is always outstretched towards me, even when I stubbornly look the other way. And your gentle voice constantly calls me, even when I obstinately refuse to listen.” St. Teresa of Avila “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”(Mark 11:9) If ever there was any moment of earthly glory for Jesus, this was it. The people of Jerusalem were more than just curious to see in person this prophet they had heard so much about. They were ready to pay him homage, to proclaim him the long-awaited Messiah… Like Jesus, we will rarely hear the cheers of the crowd as we walk the narrow road to eternal life. Mostly, our lives will be defined by small acts of love for one another. Yet, because Christ lives in us, our inner light will shine. Sometimes others will notice. We can tell them that we have let the King of Kings into our hearts, and though He found the house disorderly and unclean, He decided to stay. He never refuses anyone who asks Him to enter. Lord Jesus, You reign in our hearts forever. May Your light dissolve any darkness in our lives. (Excerpts from “Living With Christ” Holy Week 2015)

Hungering for Seeds of Home: We follow Jesus this week on our Lenten journey as he enters into Jerusalem, a community he knew well. CRS Rice Bowl asks us, too, to prayerfully enter into our own communities, to find those who are hungry and thirsty, who need our help. How does our Lenten journey motivate us to serve those we encounter in our daily lives?

Help CenterInterested in helping clean the church? We’re looking for your assistance. We need volunteers to pick one month out of the year to come once a week, for a 1 hour, to help clean the church and Narthex. This would be 4-5 times a month. Church cleaners are especially needed during the months of January, March and September. If this is something you think you would like to do, please give Sandy Hipp a call at 667-3223 or call the Parish Office at 667-3419.

ST. VINCENT HOTEL: Parishioners are reminded the hotel is in constant need of casseroles to serve the homeless guests. Completed casseroles can be placed in the Parish freezer and will be periodically delivered to the hotel by Parish volunteers. For further information, contact Mike Begley at 667-2882 or the Parish Office at 667-3419. The next opportunity to serve the evening meal to the guests at St. Vincent Hotel will be Sunday, April 26. Please meet in the north parking lot of the Church for a 5:00 p.m. departure if you would like to volunteer.

Volunteer Respite Aides Needed: Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley’s Senior Outreach Program needs volunteer Respite Aides to provide relief for spouses and family members who care for dependent elderly adults at home. Volunteers receive training and are asked to commit to giving the full-time caregiver a 3-4 hour break one day a week. Hours are flexible based on the needs of the client and the volunteer. For more information, call CSSMV Volunteer Services at (937) 223-7217.

Thank YouThank you for promoting the Retirement Fund for Religious appeal. The people of the Archdiocese continue to respond generously to

this collection. St. John the Baptist contributed $5,082.82 and they greatly appreciate it.

Thank you, St. John Volunteers, for helping with the Funeral dinner. All your hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated. We

wouldn’t be able to do it without you. Thanks again! Marion King, Kathy Trimbach, and Addie Vahle
