Our sophisticated Cat5 cable analysis compensates for cable length in Cat5e (and up) UTP cables.

Cable compensation adjusts for:

Signals attenuate (are lower) over long cable runs.

This results in a image looking dark or not having sync.



Skew

Cat5 cable relies on each of the four pairs having a different twist rate. These different twist rates result in pairs having different total lengths. This leads to signals carried over different pairs within a Cat5 have different arrival time.




Skew continued

This means Y, Pb and Pr all arrive at different times (BAD).

This results in a image with blurred edges or fuzzy looking.




EQ

Similar to gain, signals attenuate over long cable runs. In addition to amplifying the level we straighten them out and make them look more like the original signal.

This results in a very soft image.

USB Function:The USB port on the front of the RC2 head end is for OPTIONAL user adjustments to the cable adaption.

No user intervention is required via the USB port.




USB Function:We have built in four regions of memory for users to store camera “profiles”. Perhaps a certain camera has an undesired skew right out of the box, we’ll be able to build in an offset to “correct” this.
