‘30,000 feet view’: The big picture of Dalal Street
Good Morning & Welcome to Wednesday's trading action at Dalal Street, dated 29th
of August 2018.
This Wednesday, Nifty bulls are again likely to be in firm control amidst supportive global cues;
as in overnight trade, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq traded firm near fresh records, and the Dow
climbed to within 2% of its all-time high.
The key positive catalyst working in favor of Dalal Street: Optimism in the wake of U.S.-Mexico
trade pact.
Our call of the day suggests a U.S.-Mexico trade deal should brighten the outlook for stocks
particularly sensitive to the global economy. Expect, metals and mining stocks to enjoy strong
session, given their sensitivity to the global economy.
Now to the big question of the day: How long Nifty's record-breaking run will keep
going?
Well, they say bull markets in stocks 'mature on optimism' and they eventually 'die on euphoria'.
Well, at the moment the euphoria or panic buying is still missing. We say so because, the market
breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, continues to be negative.
This clearly indicates, Dalal Street stocks have further to run.
STOCKS TO WATCH:
• Our chart of the day suggests establishing long positions in promising stocks like SAIL,
JINDAL STEEL& POWER, TATA STEEL and VEDANTA with interweek perspective.

that Indian equities at the moment are largely driven by domestic flows.

Technical Strategy
‘30,000 feet view’: The big picture of Dalal Street
On the option data front, key resistance level for the August series are at 11,800 strike price.
While support for Nifty are seen at 11,700 strike price as maximum put open interest seen at
11,700 strike price.
Overbought technical conditions may prevail, but the risk-reward still favors' longs. Optimism is
still the order of the day as the market undertone remains bullish on backdrop of support of
consistent short covering and long buildup. Having said that, volatility could be the hallmark as
traders roll over their positions in F&O segment to September series. August series expire on
Thursday, 30th August 2018.
GLOBAL CUES:
• U.S. markets have officially entered their longest bull market in history.
Wall Street was seen trading with positive bias with the Nasdaq Composite above 8,000
mark and the Dow retaking 26,000 since early February, as the market rallied on
enthusiasm over a new trade deal between the U.S. and Mexico.
COMMODITY CUES:
In Tuesday's trade, Crude-oil price rose towards its highest since early July, thanks to evidence
of still-modest increases in output from OPEC and improving Chinese refining demand. Brent
crude oil futures were at $76.65 a barrel.
• Copper prices were seen marching with strength in yesterday's trade amidst value
buying. MCX COPPER (423): Interweek strategy: Establish long positions at CMP,
targeting 431 and then at 441-447.50 zone with stop at 405.
• Gold prices were at two-week high as the dollar fell to a one-month low following the U.S.
and Mexico deal.
CURRIENCIES & BONDS:
• The U.S. dollar index traded drifted in yesterday's trade, amidst profit booking.
• The rupee rose mildly against the US dollar to close at 70.10 on Tuesday. Buying on dips
should be preferred strategy. Interweek strategy: Establish long position between 69.70-
69.75 zone, targeting 70.50 and then aggressive targets at 72.50-73 with stop at 69.45.
MACRO WATCH:
• All anxious eyes will be on India's GDP growth data for the April-June quarter due this
Friday.
• Foreign investors and funds pumped in a little over Rs. 6,700 crore into the capital
markets so far this month.
• India's foreign exchange reserves fell by $33.2 million to $400.847 billion in the week to
August 17, mainly due to fall in foreign currency assets, according to Reserve Bank of
India data.
What Technical Tells Us on Nifty: Nifty zoomed in yesterday's trade and settled at record
highs, up 0.4%. The Sensex and the Nifty, both, attained record high levels in intraday as well as
on closing basis.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was negative. the BSE Mid-Cap
index ended down 0.35% while the BSE Small-Cap index was up 0.36%. Both these indices
underperformed Nifty/Sensex.
Technically speaking, the must watch support levels are placed at 11,677 & then at 11,531. The
technical landscape will worsen only if Nifty slips below the 11,319 mark as that would open the
door to massive technical selling, possibly quickly to the 10,750-10,901 zone.
Going forward, the intraday bias is positive amidst suspected short covering action and value
momentum buying. Nifty’s monthly chart shows that there's further room to go up, amidst latest
breakout set-up after the long consolidative phase. The momentum technical indicators are in
bullish mode.

In Tuesday's trade, Steel Authority (SAIL) ended
on a positive note and was seen attempting a
major rebound from a lower consolidation zone
on the daily charts, up 0.58%.
Technically, the stock is in consolidation mode at
lower levels and the momentum oscillators are
signaling a major breakout on the buy mode. Any
move above 82.50 zone will confirm strength
which also needs to be backed by increases in
volumes. The stock is seen moving up on daily
charts, backed by positive divergences.
Key support to watch in near term is at 75 zone.
Medium term supports seen at 71-72.50 zone.
Intermonth perspective: Establish long
positions at CMP, and on dips between 71-73
zone, targeting 82.50 zone and then at 92.50
mark and final aggressive targets at 100-101
zone with strict stop at 74.45.

‘30,000 feet view’: The big picture of Dalal Street
For the day, we believe, Nifty will trade with positive bias with downside well supported at 11689 mark. Hurdles continue to be at psychological 11,801 mark
and then aggressive targets at 12,001 mark.
The price action for Nifty is suggesting that we are likely to see an 11,501-11,801 range in near term with positive bias.
Bulls Vs. Bears: Time to Pick a Side!!
Upwards and upwards -- so goes Dalal Street; absolutely with no sign of hesitation! We suspect, Nifty still have some way to go before hitting the wall.
Preferred trade on Nifty: Nifty (11739): Buy between 11691-11705 zone, targeting 11775 and then at 11851-11901 zone with stop at 11501.
Preferred trade on Bank Nifty: Bank Nifty (28269): Establish long positions at CMP, targeting 28501 zone and then at 28901-29001 zone with strict stop
at 27551.
