Event 6 - 10.30a.m. – 11.10a.m. Sean Borodale in conversation with Smriti Daniel. T. S. Eliot Prize nominee, poet Sean Borodale, talks to journalist Smriti Daniel. Sean Borodale's gorgeous debut collection of poems Bee Journal was nominated for the T.S Eliot Prize for Poetry and The Costa Book Awards last year. Named a Granta New Poet, Sean's work 'changes what a poetry book can do.' The collection's genesis was in a working journal kept over two years when Sean decided to take up bee keeping for the first time. This is nature poetry at its best - a vivid, intelligent combination of bee science and wonderful literature, chronicling the life, growth and eventual death of the hive while examining the relationship between keeper and kept, exploring paradoxes and moments of revelation.

Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya of the Sri Lankan Army and Rajiv Wijesinghe, in conversation with war reporters Carolin Emcke and Julian West, about the problems of war reportage: Who exactly assigns the numbers in an environment where facts and figures can be massaged equally vigorously by both sides? Moderated by Savithri Rodrigo.
