The Ghent AltarpieceThe Ghent Altar piece was created by both Jan and Hubert Van Eyck. Hubert had begun the painting but died before he could finish it, and so Jan finished the rest of it for his brother. The painting was made in 1432, and since then is has been stolen and destroyed many times. The Ghent Altarpiece is commonly known as the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb. The Ghent Altarpiece is a Piece of Renaissance art, and this can easily be determined by just simply looking at it. One thing that makes Renaissance art so different from other forms of art is the complex and in depth backgrounds. In this work of Hubert and Jan, the background is very detailed and in depth. The people in the painting are also very realistic and perfect, which is also a trait seen in Renaissance art. There are many people in the painting, some of whom are clothed and others which are nude. Having both clothes and naked people was also common among the Renaissance artists. The Ghent Altarpiece was made to signify religion, but also the individual which is seen in many pieces of Renaissance art.

It shows that god is always watching the sins and mad mistakes that you make. This is obviously a very religious piece of work talking about the sins made my someone. The people in the painting are doing everyday activities so its nothing too out of the ordinary. There is a lot of nature in it, from grass to animals.
