Objective

Other Available Shipment Methods• The shipment for large and heavy steel coils has historically been somewhat

problematic. • The methods currently available to the shipper are:

– Conventional ships• Infrequent sailing's.• Loading subject to weather conditions.• Possible damage due to exposure to elements. • multiple handling of coil(s).• Limited ports of call.• Suspension of service to certain locations in winter months. • Longer transit times.

– Via container• difficulties in loading/unloading.• Excess cost of blocking and bracing and wood fumigation.• Time to load and unload.• Potential container floor damage due to weight concentration (many Ocean Carriers will

not accept coils for shipment.) • potential of coil to break away from bracing causing severe damage to coil, container and

surrounding cargo. Shipper liability and higher insurance costs.

• GENERAL: – max coil width: 200 cm.– max. coil height: 190 cm.– Empty pallets can be stacked 5 high with 40 Class 1’s , or 20 Class II’s, or 60

Sleds in a 40ft. container for empty positioning.• Over 3,000 Coil-Tainer pallets are in use worldwide.

Coils arriving on multiple trucks can be consolidated into (1) standard 20’ ocean container due to Coil-Tainer’s ability to load up to 27 metric tons of coil weight in a container. The benefit to you the shipper is a reduction in total ocean freight cost due to requiring less containers for the total shipment!
