For almost thirty years the Coalition has provided emergency food and clothing to struggling residents of Moore County. Although many people are familiar with the Coalition’s mission of helping neighbors in need, you may not realize the additional services we provide. Transportation is one of the biggest challenges for low income residents in Moore County. The Coalition provides daily transportation between Client Services and Carthage. Trips to Vocational Rehabilitation, Division of Workforce Solutions, and First Health are also available by request. Clients also use this service to visit Sandhills Community College for registration, attend classes in Carthage, or medical appointments. Transportation is available to the Social Security office monthly. Employment Counselors are on-hand three days a week to assist with resume writing, interview techniques, or assistance with online job applica- tions. Counselors work closely with Workforce Solutions and Sandhills Community College for basic skills or continuing education classes. Many counselors have experience in personnel or human resources and provide a valuable asset to those seeking employment. Although the Coalition continues to fulfill our mission of providing emergency assistance to struggling families, we also work diligently to provide education and counseling in hopes of leading clients to lasting life changes and self sufficiency.
