Parents, are you thinking about summer camp for your children? CMC offers a

camp scholarship for children/youth wanting to attend a week-long Mennonite or Anabaptist summer camp program. A good number of children and youth from CMC families are attending summer camp for faith formation, discipleship and fellowship. For some children, this is their only formal program for Christian nurture in the summer months. Therefore, Community Mennonite Church will pay $75.00 of the total registration fee for a child/youth registering for a week of summer camp at a Mennonite or Anabaptist related camp. Please indicate on the registration form that CMC will provide $75 camp scholarship. Inform the church office of the child/youth attending summer camp. Highland Retreat Summer Camp registration forms are available on the kiosk in the Fellowship Hall. For more information or questions please contact the church office. Let the Children Come . . . . CMC Small Groups

Would you like to be part of a small group? Anabaptists believe that the Christian life should be lived alongside others, not in isolation. CMC small groups provide settings for deeper relationships, and a community to share fellowship, study, personal encouragement, counsel, practical support, outreach, and fun. Small groups are made up of 6-12 adults, plus children, who meet weekly or bi-weekly. CMC encourages all regular attenders to participate in small-group life. If you are interested in joining a small group, please contact Pastor Dayna or Heather Harris at: [email protected] or cell (937)597-8289

To All Cooks And Others Out There Interested in Assisting the Free Clinic by Preparing a Meal for the Evening Clinic Volunteers. IF THAT'S YOU, PLEASE READ ON: Need a quick morale boost? Wondering how you could do a simple task that would be a benefit to the wider community? Have a recipe that you’ve been dying to try? Here’s your answer: the Free Clinic, just downhill from us on Water St. periodically needs supper meals provided to nourish the volunteers coming in for the evening clinic. Specifically, they've requested a meal from CMC on July 5, 2017.

Plan to feed 20 volunteers; please

note that there are 1-2 volunteers

who are gluten free

deliver the meal by 3:30 pm on Wednesday, July 5th to The Free Clinic

you can park alongside the curb in front of The Free Clinic on Water Street to drop off the meal

if you need assistance please call (540) 437-1800 and state that you are outside to deliver the meal; this is helpful since the clinic is not seeing patients and staff may not be out front to see anyone at the door

you can also ring the bell by the exit door to be let in

the meal does not need to be elaborate and can be a casserole, salad and dessert for fruit, baked potatoes, etc.; if you need suggestions I’ll be happy to help

if disposable containers aren’t used be sure to label the containers; they can be picked up at 8 pm the same day or when the next few days between 9 am and 2 pm during clinic hours

you do not need to provide paper products or drink

So, if that connects with you, do let Ellen, our Church Administrator, know that you’re the cook for that night. Sincerely, Jason Gerlach. On behalf of the Free Clinic volunteers, we are thankful for the generosity of the members of Community Mennonite Church. This is such a valuable ministry. If you ever get a chance, visit the Free Clinic to see firsthand the important ministry that is taking place. Many thanks, Patty Long, Meal Coordinator The Free Clinic.

at CMC? For one answer, cast a bewildered gaze toward yon site for sore eyes - a photo collage of May activities posted on the bulletin board on the west wall of the fellowship hall. Then, set Mr. Peabody's Wayback Machine to 2009 for an adjacent display that rekindles the flame of Pentecost Sunday on May 31 that year. But wait, there's even more - a "Letter to a Graduating Daughter" from the June 1991 Christian Living magazine and a CMC congregational report for March-April in the 6/5/17 issue of Mennonite World Review. Jim Bishop

Did you know that we have four ways to give to the church? By cash or check: Either place your

contribution in the offering basket or mail checks to the church. Use the memo line to indicate a particular fund ("Everyone Welcome," "General Fund," etc.).

By text message: Text the amount you

wish to donate (e.g. "$25") to 540-779-1276. The first time, you'll receive a link to register your information. Undesignated funds will go to CMC's general fund. To contribute to the Everyone Welcome, add "Welcome" after the amount (e.g. "$100 Welcome"). To donate to the Fifth Sunday offering, add "Fifth".

On our website: Click the teal "Give"

button on the top right corner of our website at cmcva.org

On your smartphone: Search for

"GivePlus Church" in the Android or iPhone app store, once you've installed it, just search for "Community Mennonite Church."
