You just can’t keep a good fund-raising committee down with innovation like this! These arrangements will be in keeping with Covid-19 restrictions of essential visitors only to the school and physical distancing between adults. Order forms and details have been included in this newsletter. Many thanks to Bronwyn and the team for their organisation. ESSENTIAL ENERGY POWER OUTAGE PLANNED We have been notified by Essential Energy that there will be a power outage from 9am to 4pm on Tuesday 16 th June. Our school is currently applying for a generator to have a basic power source. This power outage will also affect the surrounding areas and residents should plan for this.

BREAKING NEWS! We are currently negotiating with Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Camp to run day trips each day from Monday 21st September to Friday 25th September for our Y3, 4, 5 and 6 students. We are aware parents may not feel comfortable about their children staying at a camp after the Covid-19 restriction period, however day trips by bus are a wonderful alternative in providing experiences for our children and giving them something to look forward to. As soon as we have day trips approved and programs and costs finalised, we will let our families know. ** Please note that this may not receive approval. Michelle Slee Principal

EXPECTATION Always show kindness and gratitude.

Opportunity Class 2021 Due to Covid-19 there are changes to the opportunity class placement process for 2020 Year 4 students. The 2021 Year 5 opportunity class placement process was put on hold in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation. We now have a revised and simplified timeline for the OC placement process to ensure that students and families can have certainty about their placement as soon as possible. The changes include:

• A new date for online applications. Parents must apply between 9 June 2020 and 26 June 2020. Late applications cannot be accepted.

• A new test date - Wednesday 16 September 2020.

To ensure fair and consistent assessment of students across New South Wales, students will be offered places based only on their test results this year – there will be no school assessment scores. There will also be no opportunity for appeals given the tight time frames. For further detailed information I encourage you to visit https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5

Stage 3 History – Australia as a Nation In Stage 3 we have been studying the history unit of 'Australia as a Nation'. Students have been asked to create a Google slide presentation on an individual or group that has made a contribution to the development of Australian society. Max Wilson presented the follow presentation on Monday, in class.

If you have any book club orders for Issue 4, please return them to the school office by Monday 15th June. Thank you. P&C News Thank you to all who attended the P&C meeting on Monday night via Zoom. It was a great to see and discuss some upcoming fundraising ideas we have. Thank you to Bronwyn for organising our famous Pie Drive once again- this is a favourite with many families and an opportunity to stock up on some pies to have through the winter months. Order forms will be sent out this week and delivery to be end of this term

Clunes OSHC This week at Clunes OSHC we have been having many furry four-legged visitors come to play. As many of the locals walk their dogs on the oval in the afternoon,

we have been getting to know them and their owners as well. On Wednesday Lawson brought Chilli to come and play and Lennon’s Dad brought their new puppy Wolffy. The Children played a chase game and throw sticks for the dogs to fetch. Having animals at

Clunes OSHC gave many opportunities for the children to learn about how to approach an animal, how to treat animals and how to care for them. On Tuesday we made scones for afternoon tea this activity was a few

weeks in the making and the children were excited to participate. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending weather you came on Tuesday or not; There was only Austin and Eliot in care that day, so we had a scone feast. We have decided we will make scones again next Wednesday and try our hand at making jam. We have been planning what we would like plant in the school gardens and activity planned for the July Vacation Care the children have asked for peas, tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, and cucumbers. If you have any strawberry runners at home that you would like to gift us it would be much appreciated. We are now taking booking s for Vacation Care and we still have spaces for afterschool care. If you would like your children to attend after school care please Call or text us on 0437 362 834 or email us [email protected].
