How many gallons of water does an average american
household use for washing clothes? An average household consumes 200 gallons per day
Clothes washers use 22% of those 200 gallons or 44 gallons a day. As 44 gallons of
water are used for every washer load, this is equivalent of one load a day
A typical household clothes washer can consume 1320 gallons of water per month or
16,060 gallons a year
What is the energy cost of laundry to an average
american household? Energy cost per washer load: $0.04 – $0.68, averaged at $0.36 (source)
Water cost per washer load: $0.12 (44 gallons per load, using this chart)
Total cost per washer load: $0.36 + $0.12 = $0.48
In a month, a typical American household will spend $14.5 on washing or $175.2 a
year
Energy cost per dryer load: $0.31 – $0.49, averaged at $0.40 (source)
Cost of laundry detergent and/or fabric softener: $0.12
Total cost of running one household washer and dryer cycle: $0.52 + $0.48 = $1.00
This means that a typical American household will spend $30 on laundry in a month
or $365 a year

Institutions specializing in the study of perspiration The International Hyperhidrosis Society (IHS) focusses on studying people with
excessive sweat conditions in an effort to aid their subsequent treatment. It is a well
organized community of medical professionals, family doctors and predominantly
individuals who have suffered from this ailment; all of whom are contantly seeking a
long term solution to the problem.
The IHS has launched sweathelp.org - the only independent, global, non-profit
advocacy and education organization serving the world of people who sweat more than
they need to, and everyone who cares for them. One of their prime activities include the
training of physicians to help afflicted individuals manage or control their respective
conditions. They are also sending out thousands of ‘Know Sweat in School’ kits to
school nurses so that they can recognize the signs of kids struggling with hyperhidrosis
and intervene with support and guidance.
This link to the IHS’s website contains scientific information relating to perspiration
and contact information of concerned personnel which can be of much use, with
regard to potential applications of the fabric technology devised at Nirvana Labs,
