Department Clinical Orientation

June 20, 2013

The orientation started at about 8:30 AM at the college gymnasium and attended by 29 Midwifery 2

students and Clinical Instructors. Maam Gironella, A., clinical coordinator, presided first by asking the t

students to exercise good manners and right conduct.

Maam Gaerlan, our Director for Academic Affairs announced that duty for 2nd

year students will start

June 25 2013. She reiterated that all clinical grades for the last semester must be settled and completed

as soon as possible.

Maam Gironella, our departments clinical coordinator, continued by reading and explaining the

guidelines for conducting clinical duties. Topics included the following:A. Absences and Tardiness

- the student is required to submit a pass slip secured from the guidance office before she/he is

allowed to resume his/her scheduled duties.

- if an absence is due to an illness a medical certificate is needed aside from a pass slip duly

signed by parents or guardians.

- in the absence of parents or guardians, their landladies or landlords will be the ones to

certify/sign such slip that will be presented to the guidance office.

- Penalty for unexcused absences will 1:3 or for one day absent the student should have a make

up duty equivalent to 3 days and a fee of 120 pesos per day which will be used to pay services

of CI who will supervise the make up duties and to the hospital as stipulated in the guidelines.

- for excused absences the ratio is 1:1 with no attached fees.- if the student fails to do the make duties within the scheduled date of make-up duties then

the student will be given an incomplete grade regardless of whether the student will pass other

requirements. A completion form can be secured from the Registrars Office upon completion

of the said requirements.

- An excused absence is defined as absence due to illness or death of immediate member of the

family. Such excuse slip should be signed by parents or guardian, program head, guidance

counselor then it will be submitted to the CI concerned. Excused absences also includes

attendance in a wedding in which the student has a special participation in such event. A

student should show an invitation. If the student should travel to any place outside the country

then a supporting document must be presented.

- Late reporting is considered if 15 minutes or more had lapsed from the scheduled time of duty

but not more than 30 minutes. In such case a half day absence is imposed and therefore the

student is to have a 1 day and half makeup duty.

- 3 days duty late is considered as 1 day absent and therefore needs a 3 days makeup duties

with attached fees.

- only those who are officially enrolled with an affiliation fees are allowed to have the clinical

duties.
