11TH ANNUAL KARAOKE CONTEST & SILENT AUCTIONCLIFTON PARKTwin Bridges Rotary will hold its 11th annual Karaoke Contest and Silent Auction Friday, October 2 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Clifton Park. The event benefits a number of charitable programs in the Southern Saratoga area and its lots of fun as well. There are several differ-ent ways for area businesses and individuals to show support: sponsor-ship levels ranging of $250 and $500 (the $1000 Platinum Sponsorship has already been sold to Catricala Funeral Home of Halfmoon); purchase of a corporate table to the event with discounted ticket prices; and do-nation of an item or service for the Silent Auction. Individual tickets can be purchased in advance for $50 at www.twinbridgesrotary.com or at the door for $60. This year Twin Bridges has designated two area service orga-nizations for special support: CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services which offers a variety of services to youth in Saratoga County and To Love A Child which provides humanitarian assistance to impoverished children and their families throughout the world. The rest of the proceeds will go to deserving local projects throughout the year. The Karaoke Event itself features a contest for serious singers (limited to the first 15 paid entrants) with celebrity judges and a $500 first prize, followed by time for any audi-ence member who just wants to get up to the microphone and belt it out. BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER FOR JUVENILE DIABETESCOHOES Fundraiser Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday, October 4th, from 8am to 1pm at St. Michaels Parish in Cohoes (20 Page Ave.). All proceeds will benefit research to find a cure for Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes, which affects thousands of children from infancy thru adulthood. The event will run from 8am to 11:30am at the firehouse on Old Route 146, between Routes 9 and 146 in Clifton Park. The menu will include Pancakes, Eggs, Sausage, Ba-con, Toast, Coffee, Juice and Milk. The costs for the all you can eat breakfast is $5.00 for Adults, $3.00 for Children ages 6 to 12 and FREE for kids under age 6. Tours of the fire trucks and equipment will also be given to all who attend as we also kick off Na-tional Fire Prevention Week, which is October 4th to Oc-tober 10th, with fire safety information. VISCHER FERRY On Satur-day, October 17th, Amity Reformed Church located at 335 Riverview Road, Vischer Ferry will hold their annual Turkey Dinner. The tradi-tional dinner will be served family style. CAPITAL DISTRICT The Joyful Noise was a con-temporary Christian music ministry well known in the Capital District region and beyond, during the years of 1969-1993. The Joyful Noise was a large group of young people, led spiritu-ally and musically by Mr. Bill Womer. The Joyful Noise was the core of what would later evolve into Christian Mu-sic Ministries. The positive side of social media, as well as the unfortunate passing of key members, has stirred interest in a reunion of The Joyful Noise, with the rec-ognition, that still, We are One. A reunion is planned for October 10, 2015 focused on reuniting and catching up. The reunion will culmi-nate with a barbeque dinner and an evening Praise and Worship service at Bethle-hem Lutheran Church. Many of the songs spanning three decades when young lives were forever impacted by this experience will be sung together again. We will also be including all the parents and family members in the Saturday night service who supported each of us during our JN years. During these early planning stages we are interested in help locating former members, and iden-tifying folks to assist on vari-ous committees that have been formed.
