Monday, June 16, 10 am: Cohoes Mayor George Primeau hosts a public ceremony to proclaim June 24 Franco-American Day (location: Cohoes City Hall, 97 Mo-hawk Street). Tuesday, June 17, 1:30 pm: NY legislators pres-ent their proclamation (location: Legislative Office Building, 198 State St., Million Staircase area). The Quebec flag will be flown at the Cohoes City Hall and the NY State Legislature on June 24.

On Sunday, June 22, at 3 pm, the Federation will celebrate the traditional Quebec holiday Saint-Jean-Bap-tiste with a Mass in French (and some English) at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad Street, Waterford, followed by a reception (free of charge). All are welcome! Franco-American Day in New York is June 24.

ANNUAL YOUTH SOCCER SHOOT AT CLIFTON PARK COMMONS
CLIFTON PARK – The Clifton Park Elks are sponsoring a skills contest for young soccer players on Saturday, June 14, at the Clifton Park Commons soccer fields. The Elks Soccer
Shoot program tests skill levels based on age. There are four age groups (7 and under, 8 & 9, 10 & 11 and 12 & 13) with boys and girls competing separately for a total of 8 divisions (age as of August 1, 2014). Awards will be presented to winners of each division. Winners in three older boys and girls age cate-gories will be eligible to participate in the District Soccer Shoot this fall. The event will be held from 9 AM until 2:30 PM. Registration will be at the Soccer Pavilion adjacent to the snack bar at the Commons on the day of the event.

CLIFTON PARK - The Ameri-can Cancer Society is seek-ing cancer survivors to par-ticipate in 2014 Relay For Life. The Shenendehowa Community 2014 Relay For Life will be held at the Shenedehowa High School Track in Clifton Park from Friday, June 13th, 7pm to Saturday June 14th, 7am. Relay For Life is a Community gathering to participate in the fi ght against cancer, through fundraising, education, aware-ness of cancer prevention, treatment and patient support. All cancer survivors and caregivers are honored guest as the Re-lay starts with a “Survivors Lap” to celebrate the courage that the survivors and their families sustain in their livers. After the sun sets, “The Remember Ceremony” with hundreds of lumi-naria lights the track to remember those we lost to cancer and honor those fi ghting cancer and those who have won. At 11pm is the “Fight Back Ceremony. All three ceremonies are beautiful and very moving. There will be various activities planned for the entire night. Registration for survivors, care-givers and the public will begin at 6pm. BALLSTON SPA - The Ballston Spa Farmers’ Market is open for the season - every Thurs-day from 3-6 pm and Saturday 9 am to Noon through October 18. The market is once again conveniently located in Wiswall Park, at the corner of Front Street and Low Street

The Bridges program is two-fold. THE WHIPPLE CITY FESTIVALGREENWICH - This year, the Whipple City Festival will once again feature living history demonstrations in Dorr Park. On Saturday June 14th there will be four regiments reenacting four different periods in history. The 2nd Continental Artillery Regiment is a group of re-enactors from the Revolutionary War. Cannon will be on display as well as firearms from that period. Musket firings will take place at different times during the day and several campsites will be set for display with re-enactors in period dress. The 125th NY Regiment Association will be representing the Civil War period. This living history group represents a typical military campsite of 1861 and is chartered with the NYS Education Department. Tents and campsites will be set up. This group will have musket firings during the festival and wooden muskets will be available for children to help the re-enactors do musket drills. The 99th In-fantry Division will be representing World War II. A field table, 4-5 puptents, an ammo box as well as WWII weapons will be on display. This year we are also adding WWI to our group of reenactors. They will have a table with memorabilia from that era. Also in Dorr Park will be The Greenwich Town Histo-rian and the Willard Mountain DAR and the Washington Co. Historical Society with information booths and items for sale. The park is still open to having other historical organizations set up info booths. Contact the chamber at [email protected]. Programs pro-vide needed encouragement, guidance and advocacy to students as they navigate their high school years and move toward post-graduation goals. BALLSTON SPA – The celebration that is midway to St. Patrick’s Day -- the Irish 2000 Music and Arts Festival -- takes over the Saratoga County Fairgrounds on Sept. 12 and 13 with new groups and old favorites. The festival features more than 25 performers and two days of all things Irish. It opens at 5 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, with performances by Kilrush, Scythian, Clan na Gael and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. On Saturday, Sept. 13, Irish 2000 opens at 10 a.m. and contin-ues until midnight, with three stages of non-stop music and a fourth stage where Irish dance takes the center. Discounted tickets will be available through Price Chopper’s Tickets to Go program starting on August 3 or through the festival website through Sept. 11. Those using their Price Chopper Advant-Edge Card receive an additional $1 the advance sale prices. Advance sale Friday only tickets are $16, Saturday only tick-ets are $18. You will help the student to develop core val-ues and “encourage young women to discover their dreams, to believe in endless possibilities while empower-ing them to make it happen”. The organization is currently looking for mentors in the Clifton Park to Glens Falls areas. SARATOGA CO. - Saratoga County RPC, through its VetHelp division, is pleased to announce a new program to aid veterans and their families in their struggle to maintain permanent hous-ing. The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program can provide mon-etary relief as well as ex-tensive case management for veteran families that are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Temporary financial assis-tance is available for rental assistance, utilities fees, se-curity deposit, moving costs, emergency supplies, child care and transportation. Case management and re-ferral services include health care, daily living activities, financial planning, transportation, income support and legal assistance. The goal of the SSVF program is to promote housing stability among very low in-come Veteran families who reside in or are transitioning to permanent housing in the following New York State counties; Washington, Warren, Saratoga, Schenectady, Montgomery, Fulton and Schoharie.
