Clearspan Communicator Mobile for Android Release Notes R21.3.2

KNOWN ISSUES

This section captures the known limitations and issues that affect the service related to the client software. Whenever possible, suggested workarounds are provided.

INSTALLATION AND START-UP

It is strongly recommended to uninstall previous development versions of the client before installing the release client from Google Play (former Android Market).

NOTE: Clearspan Communicator uses OpenSSL for SRTP (audio and video calls). This version of OpenSSL is NOT affected by the Heartbleed vulnerability (source: http://heartbleed.com/).

UPGRADE INFORMATION

The current release of Communicator is compatible with configuration files from older client releases. However, to benefit from the new features introduced in this release, additional configuration parameters are required.

CONFIGURATION

None.

CONTACTS

None.

CONNECTIVITY

The following are known limitations for connectivity:

Registration timer too long.

PRESENCE

The following is a known limitation for presence:

In cases where the user goes offline with Airplane mode or loses connectivity for another reason, they will still be presented with their last known status over the next 24 hours or until the next login (whichever comes first). The workaround is to sign out from the Clearspan Communicator client before changing to Airplane mode.

CHAT

The following are known limitations for chat:

Client could show duplicated messages after a failover (server-side issue).

Guest Participant join request rejected on second location (server-side).

MULTIPLE DEVICES

None.

CALL LOGS/HISTORY

None.

SERVICE MANAGEMENT

None.

None.

AUDIO CALLS

The following are known limitations for audio calls:

Adaptive Multi-Rate Narrowband (AMR-NB) and Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband (AMR-WB) and G722.1 audio codecs are not supported.

Call drops between user with Secure Optional mode and user with Secure Mandatory mode (server-side issue).

Caller is redirected to VM instead of the IVR, upon video call to user with Personal Assistant enabled (server-side).

Intermittent issues could be experienced with Nexus 6P.

No audio on the second participant in Xtended Services Interface (Xsi) conference when the initiator is with Call Recording set to “ON” (server-side).

Hide number is not working versus PSTN (server-side).

Call drops between user with Secure Optional mode and user with Secure Mandatory mode (server-side).

VIDEO CALLS

The following are known limitations for video calls:

On rare occasions when initiating a video call, a blank screen is displayed until the other party responds to the call (depends on TIII-41456).

Missing video on some Polycom devices. This can be avoided by setting use-sip-info to “true” in the configuration file.

Video calls against third-party video phones (such as Cisco Tandberg E20 and Grandstream) can fail depending on the configuration. For the full device list, see the Communicator Product Guide for Desktop and Mobile.

On some devices, there is a problem with outgoing calls if the used proxy port is 5060. The user cannot initiate an audio or video call. The workaround is to modify the configuration file to use only part of the audio and video codecs.

Communicator does not support the H.263 video codec.

Initiating a video call leads to blank screen (server-side).

Clearspan Communicator Mobile for Android Release Notes R21.3.2

CALL RECORDING

None.

OTHER

The following are additional known limitations:

For Call Back and Call-Through mode, the account requires Clearspan Anywhere or Remote Office to be enabled.

If the client is configured to reject a call with 603 Decline instead of 486 Busy Here, Call Forwarding Busy and Call Forwarding No Answer may not work as expected.

The voice mail account must be enabled and the voice mail server must be specified in the configuration to use the voice mail features.

When mandatory SRTP is used for a call and the other party has Music On Hold configured, the call drops after putting it on hold.

Call transfer with SRTP in mandatory mode is affected due to Clearspan server limitations.

When SRTP on the client is in Preferred mode, then the Music On Hold must be disabled for the conference initiator to have conference. In addition, it is possible for the third person to receive notification to upgrade the Call to Video. This is a server-side issue, which is currently in progress.

The Mobile client provides a feature for intercepting calls started with the native dialer and prompting to complete the call with Communicator. This feature is enabled by the manufacturer and it is not available on all Android phones. For example, it is not available on HTC phones.

Automatic HTTP proxy discovery is not supported.

On devices with the Menu button running Android 4.x, like the Samsung Galaxy series, the highlight color could be not applied.

On some devices with Android 4.x, receiving a big packet can cause communication interruption if the used proxy port is 5060.

Push notifications feature is released in preview only and is intended for deployment in lab environments. It should not be deployed in production for end users.

NOTE: It is strongly advised for the SIP port to be different from 5060 (for example, 5075) due to known issues with using the standard SIP port (5060) with mobile devices.
