Attempt these questions in your class register.

1. Find probability distribution and mean of the number of doublets in three throws of a

pair of dice.

2. A card from a pack of 52 cards is lost. From the remaining cards of the pack, two cards

are drawn at random and are found to be both clubs. Find the probability of the lost card

being a club.

3 A box manufacturer makes large and small boxes from a large piece of cardboard. The

large boxes require 4 sqm per box while the small boxes require 3 sqm per box. The

manufacturer is required to make atleast 3 large boxes and atmost twice as many small

boxes as large boxes. If 60 sqm of cardboard is in stock and if the profits on the large

and small boxes are 3 and 2 respectively, how many of each should be made in order

to maximise the total profit? Formulate the above L.P.P. mathematically and then solve

it graphically. What is the importance of cottage industry in India?

4. Find the probability distribution of the number of green balls drawn when three balls are

drawn without replacement from a bag containing 3 green and 5 white balls.

5. A box contains 5 gold and 4 silver coins, two coins are stolen from the box. Now one

coin is drawn at random from the box and is found to be of gold. Find the probability

that the lost coins were also of gold.

6. A cottage industry manufactures pedestal lamps and wooden shades each requiring the

use of grinding/cutting machine and a sprayer. It takes 2 hours on the grinding/cutting

machine and 3 hours on the sprayer to manufacture a pedestal lamp. It takes 1 hour on

the grinding/cutting machine and 2 hours on the sprayer to manufacture a shade. On any

day, the sprayer is available for at the most 20 hours and the grinding/cutting machine

for at the most 12 hours. The profit from the sale of a lamp is 5 and that from a shade is

respectively and then connected in parallel. Calculate the common potential across the

and the change in the electrostatic energy from its initial value.

Q5 A biconvex lens of focal length 20cm is placed coaxially with a convex mirror of radius of

curvature 20cm. The two are kept at 15cm from each other. A point object lies 40cm in

front of the convex lens. Draw a ray diagram to show the formation of the image by this

combination. Determine the nature and the position of the image formed.

Q6. Two opposite corners of a square carry charge Q each and the other two opposite

corners carry charge q each. If the resultant force on Q is zero, how are Q and q related.

Q7. A convex lens of focal length 10cm is placed coaxially 5cm away from a concave lens of

focal length 10cm. If an object is placed 30cm in front of the convex lens, find the

position of the final image formed by the combination.
