YQCA Information YQCA is required for all market animal projects and anyone showing at the Wisconsin State Fair. 4-H youth may complete the educational content online or via an instructor led class. Online class is $12.00 Instructor led is $3.00 The livestock committee will be hosting a YQCA meeting on December 27, 12:15 p.m. at Neillsville High School. You MUST register ONLINE BEFORE the class at yqca.learngrow.io if you are coming to the class. Youth 19 years or older must do the online class.

4-H Family Bowling Day

Saturday, January 4

Rose Bowl - Marshfield

$11 per person (includes pizza, pop, shoes, 2 games) There is a $20 deposit required per club (non refundable)

Teams can have up to 6 people on a lane* age 5 – adult

*All bowlers must be currently enrolled in 4-H

This will be a FUN non-competitive event

Registration at 12:00 p.m.

Bowling begins at 12:30 p.m.

2020 Clark County 4-H Scholarship Application Up to four $500 scholarships for enrolled 4-H members graduating from high school

Applications are due on or before March 1, 2020

This scholarship is available to all who meet the following requirements: ____ Must be currently enrolled in 4-H as a member for 5 years (minimum) and at least one (1) year in Clark County

Wisconsin ____ An individual entering a post-secondary school as a full-time student in a college, university, technical school,

or Farm Short-Course program. A different program requires UW-Extension approval (prior to submitting an application) ____ Have turned in a record book from 2014 to 2019 ____ Have not previously received this scholarship (only win once)

2020 Clark County Livestock Sale Scholarship Application Now Available

Three to four $500 scholarships will be awarded in 2020. Additionally $250 scholarships maybe awarded at the discretion of the committee. Livestock Sale Committee will decide how many scholarships will be awarded each year. Applications must be submitted by March 1, 2020 Qualifications: Applicant must have participated in Clark County

4-H/FFA Livestock Sale program a minimum of two years

Must be a senior in high school or freshman in college/tech.

Two recommendations required – not from family members; and one must be from a 4-H leader or FFA Advisor

Scholarship will be awarded upon completion of the first semester of college/tech. and proof of enrollment for second semester is submitted to Livestock Committee.

Designed for youth 8—18 years old All youth are invited to participate

Black River Sportsman's Club - Withee

Things to Know: $10.00 per person All classes will be held at the Black River

Sportsman's Club in Withee Times: 5:30 p.m. (Archery 8—12) 7:00 p.m. (Archery 13—18) All participants must be in 3rd grade (and at least 8

years old) through 18 years old. Registrations are due one week prior to first class. Classes are limited to 24 people so register early. It is mandatory that a parent/guardian attend the

first session with their child. Fees include training materials and a T-shirt

4-H Record Book Feedback The Leaders Federation is asking each club for Record Book Feedback! At your next club meeting, please compile ques-tions, concerns, and comments from parents and youth about record books. Questions that could be discussed include: What makes record books hard for you to

complete? Do you only work on record books after the

fair, or are they part of the entire 4h year? What updates would you like to see to record-

books Each general leader should submit WRITTEN feedback to the Extension Office by the end of January.

Clark County Leaders’ Federation Board Meeting Minutes ADS - Greenwood

November 11, 2019

Board Members Present: Amy Gerhardt, Jennie Whitmire, John Brost, Courtney Schoessow, Teri and Ella Raatz, Jarrett Rueth, Max Jacque, Jacob Kopp, Joan Buchholz, Nicolas and Susan Stiemann Board Members Absent: Bryanna Rowe Visitors: Dani Kopp, Brittney Lowry, and Nikki Rueth Amy Gerhardt called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. The American and 4-H pledges were recited. Secretary’s Report: The secretary’s minutes for the October 14, 2019 meeting were reviewed. Courtney Schoessow moved to approve. Motion seconded by John Brost and carried. Financial Report: Joan Buchholz shared the treasurer’s report. The ending balance as of 11/10/19 was $36,338.59 with $12,902.32 of that total self-supporting project balances. John Brost moved to approve. Seconded by Courtney Schoessow. Motion carried. Officer Elections: Amy Gerhardt opened nominations for president. John Brost nominated Jennie Whitmire. Susan Stiemann moved to close nominations and cast a white

ballot for Jennie. Teri Raatz seconded the motion. Motion carried. Amy Gerhardt opened nominations for vice president. Courtney Schoessow nominated John Brost. Nicolas Stiemann moved to close nominations and

cast a white ballot for John. Ella Raatz seconded the motion. Motion carried. Amy Gerhardt opened nominations for secretary. Ella Raatz nominated Susan Stiemann. Jennie Whitmire moved to close nominations and cast a white

ballot for Susan. Motion seconded by Teri Raatz and carried. Old Business: The Fall Family Fun Day Outing to Action City was reviewed. Teri Raatz suggested that if we would do the event again, we could choose to pay only for

adults who are enrolled as volunteer leaders to encourage adults to get involved as leaders. Fall Forum event reviewed. It was suggested that we might look into “bus pooling” with surrounding counties to fill the bus and share the cost. Amy Gerhardt reported that all club charters have been turned in. Record book review was discussed. It was suggested that parents share concerns/ideas for record books with club leaders who, in turn, shall e-mail these

concerns to the board. Amy noted that the permanent record pages need to be a part of the Cloverbud books that are handed out to Cloverbuds from the Extension Office. A general consensus exists that the rubrics for checking record books and the applications for awards need review by committee.

The Awards Night program was reviewed. Discussion held regarding returning to a potluck event, rather than catering; and seeking out donators for milk served at the event.

Discovery Day is set for Friday, December 27, 9:15 a.m., Neillsville High School. YQCA will be offered at this event. Teri Raatz is certified to teach. New Business: Bowling is set for January 4. Bruce Mound outing is set for February 8. Brittney Lowry reported on plans for the Volleyball Tournament. It will be held March 28-29. Teri Raatz moved to hold the event at Greenwood High

School, using three courts and the concession area for a cost of $50. John Brost seconded the motion, and it carried. Amy Gerhardt reported that interviews for a new 4-H Educator will be held on Wednesday, November 13. The board is able to have three representatives

present for the interviewees’ presentations. Amy Gerhardt, Susan and Nicolas Stiemann will be attending. The budget for the July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020 financial year was presented by Joan Buchholz. Teri Raatz moved to approve the budget. John Brost

seconded. Susan Stiemann added a friendly amendment that costs of individual events be reviewed by the board throughout the year prior to the event. Motion carried.

Courtney Schoessow moved to give a $25 Kwik Trip gift card and thank you to the Gosse family for their generosity in donating sound equipment for our Awards Banquet.

CLARK COUNTY 4-H CLUB NEWS Beaver Center/JW / November / Emily Wehrman Pledge led by Maci Lindner and Seth Duell

Club dues are $5 a person or no more than $20 a family

Will decorate a Christmas tree at Loyal Historical Society Museum

Lindner family will buy the gifts for two children on the Angel Tree

We will donate $50 to the Aging Department for paper products

Discussed the Christmas party - we will have barbeque and hot dogs

Calendars were distributed to the 4-H families for delivery

4-H Family Bowling Day and Discovery Day were discussed

Next meeting will be our Christmas party on December 8

Santa Claus ornaments were made to decorate the historical tree following the meeting

Roll call was “did you go to County Wide Action City day?

Discussed: re-enrollments, fair checks - cash them, 4H awards ban-quet, How was Action City? Did you enjoy it?

Discussed: Discovery Day, Bruce Mound tubing, Drama Fest, county bowling, archery program, and donations to Angel Tree & Highgrounds for troop boxes

Made Christmas cards for the troops and shut ins after the meeting

Loyal Lads & Lassies / November / Leah Kayhart Hannah led us in pledges

Record books were handed back, and a tutorial was presented on ideas for keeping up with the record books throughout the year.

We will be making donations to Ronald McDonald House, Sweet Dreams, and boxes for Soldiers.

We made ornaments to decorate a Christmas tree at the historical society.

Lucky Clovers / November / Caleb Meyer Roll was naming something you are thankful for.

Mark Jorgensen reported on Fall Forum and raking; Joshua Cortez reported on Action City

Club will do a hydroponics tour on April 13

Club will have a potluck and gift exchange / secret Santa at December 2 meeting

Members will pick 1 boy and 1 girl from Angel Tree with a max of $50 per person

Members will be vising the nursing home on December 8, 1:00 p.m. We will play piano and sing songs, and play BINGO

Club holiday project - families will be donating to the CC Humane Society (supplies or money) and the club will match all money donations from December 8.

We will have a pet photo contest for our club - $2 entry fee; voting will take place after the gift exchange on December 8

Next meeting is December 8, 1:00 p.m. (members will go to nursing home they signed up for)

Christmas cards were made before today’s meeting and will be handed out at Oakbrook Health & Rehab, Traditions Assisted Living, and Morgan Plaza.

Angel Tree shopping will be Tuesday, December 10, 4:00 p.m. at Thorp Family Dollar with Sherri Hughes

Thorp’s Christmas parade December 17, 5:30 p.m. - line up at the Legion Hall at 4:45 p.m.

Christmas party is tentatively scheduled for January 19

We earned $100 in 4H Mall bucks for 4-H Promotion Week. Thanks to the Williams family for setting up the display.

Drama Fest is March 7 in Thorp and our club is hosting the food stand

Volleyball is March 28-29 in Greenwood. Our club needs a coach!

Next meeting is Sunday, December 17 at 3:30 p.m.
