CSLA Host University Partnerships We work with a wide range of universities offering quality instruction in the social

sciences and humanities and sharing our commitment to open society values. These

universities have agreed to provide significant tuition discounts for CSLA candidates, and

they actively participate in our selection process. Our university partnerships enable us to

cluster grantees at institutions, and we therefore prioritize our established partners when

we match CSLA finalists to MA programs in their field of study. Although the list

changes yearly, partners in 2018 included universities in Europe, the US, and some parts

of Asia.

Scholarship Programs staff will arrange placements for CSLA finalists in cooperation

with host university colleagues. Finalists are matched with universities according to their

chosen area of specialization, overall academic profile (including language test scores),

and professional aspirations. Final decisions concerning host university placement are

made by the CSLA program staff, with input from the international selection committee

and host university staff and faculty. Candidates must meet university standards for

graduate studies admission. Please be aware that these standards vary from university to

university.

In some cases, CSLA finalists will need to apply to a CSLA host university directly.

Finalists will be notified by CSLA staff, staff from the relevant university, or staff from a

CSLA partner organization (e.g. DAAD), and asked to submit the additional application

forms. Should the university require an application fee, CSLA staff will strive to waive

this fee or to reimburse you directly. CSLA staff will work with you on this process.

Please note: if you apply directly to a university without prior instruction from CSLA

staff, we will not reimburse the application costs.

Additionally, admission to a university does not guarantee placement at that university.

CSLA staff will guide finalists through the placement process, but it is important to note

that placement decisions sit with CSLA staff and are final.

In the tables below, the listed accepted exam and scores are accurate to the best

knowledge of CSLA staff and for the purposes of admission to universities through

CSLA only. Due to the partnerships CSLA has with host universities, in limited cases

certain programs are able to accept scores lower than the university’s standard admission

requirements. Meeting the minimum language score of a university does not guarantee

admission to a university.

CSLA may partner with additional universities during the course of a selection cycle. We

will provide updated information to applicants as necessary.

Placement under the CSLA award in Germany is only eligible for students from

Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, DR Congo, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea
