The first in this series of workshops was held on the 19 th June 2013 at Vishwakarma Pratham, the corporate office and training hub of the Council in association with M/s Sika India Pvt. Ltd, world leaders in waterproofing and construction chemicals. The topic “Latest Trends & Appropriate Use of Waterproofing & Construction” stuck an immediate cord with the audience and they lapped up the product and process information shared by SIKA experts Mr Arijit Basu and Mr Sucharit Sarkar. The audience comprised of participants spanning the entire industry sectors and was drawn from Senior and Middle Management ranks form various functional departments like Procurement, Projects, Administration, Marketing and Sales and end-users. The participant mix included companies form real estate sector, infrastructure companies, PSUs and waterproofing companies and service providers. Some prominent names included: 1. Tata Steel 2. Post registration and distribution of delegate kits, the

programme commenced with Introduction of the

company by Mr. Rajesh Joshi, Country Head-

Distribution, Sika India Pvt Ltd. He delivered the

introductory address and explained the brand values of

SIKA and reiterated the customer focus of the company.

He educated the audience of the worldwide presence of

the company, its product range and service offerings.

The technical session which followed had two presentations by Mr. Arijit Basu, SBU Head, Sika

India Pvt. Ltd. on “Waterproofing” and Mr. Sucharit Sarkar, Business Development Manager,

Sika India Pvt. Ltd. on “Refurbish Your Home with Sika Products”

Dr. P R Swarup, DG , CIDC addressed the gathering

and extolled the virtues of employing skilled

applicators for better productivity, safety and quality.

He emphasized that CIDC with its pan India training

centers is always there to address the issue of skill

shortages and both product companies as well as and

project implementers should work concertedly to

employing a skilled and certified workforce on

construction projects.

The new SIKA display centre at Vishwakarma Pratham

which has been set up with the prime intention of

providing express information to the stakeholders was

inaugurated by Dr Swarup along with SIKA officers and

workshop participants. Companies are provided display

facilities at Vishwakarma Pratham which can be utilized for

display of their products and services, dissemination of

information through their brochures, leaflets, CDs and also

placement of a dedicated resource for addressing queries

and booking orders. The SIKA stall with its aesthetic

appeal and information material impressed one and all.

The networking lunch which followed had the SIKA team answering queries of the participants.

The feedback gained during the interaction with the participants by both SIKA and CIDC officials

indicates that the participants were keen and interested to learn more about the emerging

trends and judicious use of construction chemicals products and their applications especially
