Our next meat raffle will be held on Saturday, January 9th at 1 PM, please make plans to attend. The Post birthday party will be held on January 5, 2010. Please put that date on your calendar. I would like to advise of a date change for the Polar Bear Horseshoe Tour- nament. The new date is February 27th and the sign in time is at noon. There will be a sign up sheet in the Lounge right after the 1st of the year. There will be more info in the next newsletter. I would again remind you that this is YOUR POST, only YOU can make a difference. I welcome every member to attend the monthly meetings as this would be your chance to express your opinions. Our membership is going fine so far, we are at around 91.88% of goal for the 2010 year.

The renewals are slowing down, but we still need every one to reach our goal. I would like to welcome new members Frank Ponto Jr., and Matt Ear-ley and also transfers from other posts, Don Johnson, John Kelly and Steve Limberg.

New Membership is going well. Members that have not paid their 2009 dues have to pay for two years now that the 2010 cards are in. The 2010 renewal notice has gone out please send in your 2010 ASAP. We still have severa l mem-bers unpaid for 2010. I have also sent out a list with our meeting dates with all your renewals any changes will be posted. The county meetings are the second Thursday of t he month anyone that would like to attend please let B ill Bell know. I will also post the county meeting locations at the legion. The Sons Annual Restaurant Raffle has started tickets will be available at the bar or from any Sons Membe r. The winner will be drawn on Super Bowl Sunday. We have a very busy Holiday Season coming. Remem ber that karaoke with Tom and Val has started on the 2 nd and 4th Saturday come join us and test out your singing ta lent. A big thank you to all those who attended GARY BRAMER’S calling hours and funeral. We will miss Ga ry very much he was a great part of our organization. I would like to send out all our prayers to him and his fam ily this holiday season. The Sons have joined the “Josh and Friends” prog ram. We will be sending out information soon to try to g et all our organizations on board this is a wonderful prog ram. Any questions, see Bill Bell. The Sons are also se lling golf calendars to help fund the Josh Dog program. They are $28 - see Bill. The winter horseshoe tournament has been changed to February 27 due to a conflict more info to follow. I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas a nd a happy new year. If any son’s member would like anything put in o ur news please let me know. You can leave me a note in our mail-box or call me 699-1954 or 751-7754 and we will get it in the newsletter. Terry Mitchell

(Ret.) acts as a volunteer ambassador

for the Army's Freedom Team Salute Program,

an outreach program funded by the U.S. Army to

honor all Army veterans and supporters. During

the January General Membership Meeting, Terry

will present a framed certificate to the James

Harvey Spire Post and invite all Army veterans

to submit their name, address, rank if known, to

him for a commendation package. It consists of

a certificate of appreciation and personal mes-

sage of thanks signed by the Army Chief of Staff

and the Secretary of the Army, an official U.S.

Army lapel pin, and U.S. Army decal. It is pro-

vided at no cost by the U.S. Army. Current

members of the Army, Army Reserve, and Army

National Guard can also honor their spouse, em-

ployer, and parents, with a commendation. At

this time the other branches of service do not

have a similar program of recognition but any

member who wishes may receive a supporter

commendation. Anyone can put someone they

know in for a commendation by going to

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all of our

American Legion Families. To all of of our members, I do hope you enjoy

your holidays with family and friends and that new

memories will be made and remembered. Our auxil-

iary has been very active and I wish to say Thank

You for all of your cooperation, this is what team-

work is all about, you don't hesitate to help when

called upon. I wish to say Thank You to Jayne Fust & Linda

Jackson for hosting our Christmas party, great job

ladies. A special Thank You , to all who brought in desserts

for our Early Bird dinner, everything was delicious,

there was something for every ones sweet tooth, it

just shows you once again we worked together as a

team. Our membership is rising and I wish to welcome all

our newest members, it will great to have you on

board. Ladies, you never know who might be a po-

tential member so when you are out shopping casu-

ally bring up what we do in our auxiliary, and always

carry a application, remember if you sign up 3 new

members your name is sent to National to qualify

for a prize. Thank You to Le Carlisle for doing another great job

hosting the childrens Christmas party, everyone had

A very big Thank You to all who have come forward and donated items for the troops. The boxes have been shipping out left and right, we have sent Christmas decorations and cards and our Troops say Thank You. I wish to extend a heartfelt Thanks to the Legion for allowing us to run our Pennies For Postage fundraiser, it has helped tremen-dously. By now we know more troops will be shipped over-seas in the very near future so ,we need to continue our sup-port for our troops, you all read cards and letters how much they appreciate our help so let's keep it up. Service Award winner, TSgt Samantha J. Kunzelman, USAF Laboratory NCO of the Year. Samantha is the daughter of Mary and Ned Barnes from West Monroe, New

York. Samantha is stationed at Wright Pat-terson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

Samantha will now compete at the AFMC-level. If se-lected at that level, Samantha will then be forwarded to compete at the Air Force-level. Please join in congratu-lating this outstanding, medical professional. Saman-

tha's outstanding achievements and contributions have had a major impact across the wing and the Air Force. We will formally recognize Samantha at our wing-wide
