The Mission
I grew so much from our last sermon series, Called Together. And, I believe that we grew spiritually as a
church. We learned that the Gospel is not only doctrinal, but it is personal, living, and missional. The Gospel of Jesus is
the Good News that He has made all things new by His death and resurrection. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the
dead now lives in us and empowers us to be sent to make disciples by baptizing and teaching.
We learned that making disciples is not only about winning over non-believers to Christ, but also teaching new
believers so that they grow and are spiritually mature and effective in Christ. We learned that this not only happens in
small groups, but also through relationships. How empowering! The question is: what new believers (or believers who
need you) are you pursuing in a relationship? May the Spirit empower you to be aware of who you are called to pursue
and invest in. A great plan for new believers is for them to buy a study bible, develop the habits of reading the Bible and
praying, and getting into a small group. The Parable of the Sower says that new believers are still vulnerable to the
attacks of Satan and the world.
We also learned that we are to pursue relationships with people outside the church. Who has God called on you
to pursue outside the church? God has already done great things by bringing people into a saving relationship with Christ
through His church! At the time of writing this, God has already baptized 8 people in 2016 through the Ministry at St.
Paul. May God lead us to live missional lives as we seek to make friendships with those who do not yet have a personal
relationship with Jesus. And, please pray for outsiders God will bring to
our Easter Service. May they be touched by the Gospel of Jesus and turn
from sin to saving faith in Him. To God be the Glory!

LWML News Barbara Campbell, President
Wow! Here it is March already and we are halfway through our journey to the cross during our Lenten Season.
Ladies, have you signed up to bring Soup or Bread for our Wednesday Soup Suppers! These Wednesdays evenings prior
to our Lenten Worship offer an excellent time to break bread with fellow brothers & sisters in Christ. Plan to join us this
coming Wednesday.
As we count down the days until Easter we come to Palm Sunday the weekend
prior to Easter. We will again hold our Palm Sunday Brunch between our two Worship
services. Our LWML ladies will be helping shepherd this event. Second service
worshipers will set up starting around 8:30 a.m., so everything will be ready by 9:30.
First service worshipers will clean up afterward. All members are encouraged to bring
a brunch dish by 9:15. Hot dishes will be placed in the oven to keep warm. Please plan
to join us for this Fellowship Meal.
A Freewill Offering will be taken at the Brunch. Proceeds will go towards
Scholarships for any woman wishing to attend the Oregon District LWML Convention
(of which we of the Myrtlewood Zone are helping host) in Eugene on June 3-5. More information may be found on the
bulletin board in the narthex.
Don’t forget the T-Shirts for Diapers for the Orphan Grain Train!

Opening
The regular meeting of the Elders was called to order at 6:25 PM
Present
Cory Fitzsimmons, Phil Hu, David Weir
Prayer
Pastor Andrew prayed that God would fill us with His wisdom from the Holy Spirit and the Lord would bless our meeting.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes were approved from the last meeting and email poll minutes from January 29, 2016.
Church Discipline Policy
The Elders unanimously approved the updated Church Discipline Policy. The Policy also included an approach to non-members who have been
communing for a long period of time and were cohabitating or unrepentant.
Marriage Policy
The Elders unanimously approved the updated Marriage Policy. The Policy includes provisions regarding marrying cohabitating couples, unequally
yoked couples, and those who are divorced and want to remarry, and a statement that we will not perform same sex marriage.
8:30 Worship Service
Pastor Andrew shared his plan for Adam DeGroot to sing all songs mic’d and for Ruth to play the piano at all songs and for Steve Strauss to play the
acoustic guitar and accompany them.
Selecting and Forming Elders
The Elders agreed that we need a more thorough examination process for Elders. Pastor Andrew recommended several lunches where the person
being examined goes over Luther’s Small Catechism. Phil recommended that the person could also be invited to a monthly BBQ with the Elders and
their wives. The Elders unanimously approved.
Discipleship Groups
Pastor Andrew gave an update on the Discipleship multiplication process. The current discipleship groups plan to multiply in April so there will
eventually be 6 Discipleship Groups meeting.
Prayer Stations after Worship
The Elders all agreed that we should have prayer stations after worship. There was a discussion about confidentiality. Pastor Andrew said he would
research the issue with other pastors and report back to the Elders at the next meeting.
Lent/Easter Schedule
All Lent Services will be at 6:30. The Elders committed to attending the Holy Thursday and Good Friday services. The Easter Services will be at
8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 with an Easter Egg Hunt at 10:30. Phil wanted to make sure there was a good turnout of children singing at both the 9:30 and
11:00 services. Pastor Andrew said he would speak with Casey DeGroot.
Tithe
The Elders agreed to continue to support Evergreen Lutheran School in Detroit.
Thanksgiving Service
Pastor Andrew requested that we discontinue the Thanksgiving Eve Service since interest was down. The Elders agreed but wanted to know exactly
how many people were in attendance. Pastor Andrew said he would report back to them on the exact number.
Adjournment
Meeting was adjourned at 9:45. The next general meeting will be at 6:15 PM on March 10, 2016, in the library at St. Paul.

Ten thousand talents is equivalent to millions of dollars. Jesus intention was to pick a debt so huge that the servant could never pay off
the debt. Neither could any of us offer up enough money, time or service to buy ourselves out of sin. Yet with one pronouncement
from the cross, “It is finished,” Jesus did that for us. Our debt is paid. And what is the proper response for that? Is bringing an
offering of all we have enough? Could we ever return enough to properly thank God for forgiving our debt of sin? No. But by
managing all of life and all of life’s resources for God’s purpose, we can demonstrate that we understand and are willing to respond to
the payment of that debt.
