    1966 the Branch successfully developed two products

    dense-medium cyclone with a diameter of 500mm and built

    the separation system of dense-medium cyclone in Liaoning

    Caitun. Subsequently, the Branch successfully developed

    two products dense-medium cyclone with 600mm and

    700mm.

    1977 the Branch started to develop three-product

    dense-medium cyclones, non-magnetic medium

    dense-medium cyclone and fine medium dense-medium

    cyclone.

    1981 the Branch successfully developed 3NZX500/350

    pressure feeding three products dense-medium cyclone, and

    passed the national identification as achievements in

    scientific research during the "Eighth Five-Year Plan" period.

    1989, the Branch began to study the three-productdense-medium cyclone that utilized the gravity feeding mode,

    and in 1992 successfully developed 3NWX700/500 gravity

    feeding three-products dense medium cyclone, industrialize

    this technology, in the same year past the national technical

    evaluation and won the patent, and then extended the

    technology gradually.

    1999 Coal Preparation Branch successfully developed the

    three products dense-medium cyclone (type 3NWX1200A

    type) of Chinas first large gravity feeding, which was

    successfully utilized in Laowuji Coal Preparation Plant inPanjiang, Guizhou.

    2000- Now In order to improve the separation sharpness

    and economy of the dense-medium cyclone coal preparation

    and make advanced and efficient dense-medium cyclone

    coal preparation technology more widely extended, the

    Ministry of Science and Technology issued a research topic

    of key technology research on new process of the

    dense-medium cyclone coal preparation during the Tenth

    Five Year Plan, in December 2004, successful was the

    commissioning of the technical renovation project of Shanxi

    Jinyang Coal Separation Plant that used the new process of

    coal preparation researched during the Tenth Five Year

    Plan, cooperated with the new process, Coal Preparation

    Branch successfully developed the gravity feeding three

    products dense-medium cyclone (invention patent No.:

    02158903.8), laid the foundation for the development of

    China's dense-medium coal preparation technology and the

    simplification of the coal preparation process as well as the

    bigness of the coal preparation plant, and made important

    contributions to the rise of the technical level of Chinas coal

    preparation.

    1958 China Coal Research Institute Coal Preparation

    Branch start the research of dense medium coal separation

    process with the magnetite powder as coal separationmedium.

    Coal Preparation Branch of China Coal Research Institute,

    established in 1956, is the only science and technologyinstitute in China engaged in research in coal preparation. So

    far, more than 80% of the process and equipment technology

    used by Chinas coal preparation plants is originally from

    Coal Preparation Branch, especially, the dense medium coal

    preparation technology and equipment is result of long term

    effort and innovation. The three product cyclone invented by

    Coal Preparation Branch has a 95% market share in Chinas

    coking coal preparation plants.

    After problems, such as complicated process, high power

    consumption and etc. are solved, large diameter dense-

    medium cyclone, especially three-products dense-medium

    cyclone is high in separation efficiency, and can be used to

    simplify the coal preparation process and reduce the

    equipment number and land occupied of the coal preparation

    plant, greatly lower the production cost and therefore it

    capture the market gradually in China.

    the development of coal preparation technology, especially

    1990s was the era of the rapid development of Chinas

    dense-medium coal preparation technology and the wash

    volume, in which the fastest development is the coal

    preparation technology of the dense-medium cyclone, the

    development momentum of Chinas dense-medium coal

    separation first came from the state environmental protection

    policy and the sustainable development strategy of the

    national economy, the Chinese government from the actual

    situation, clearly took coal as basic energy, strived to

    enhance the proportion of high quality coal, increased

    development efforts of the clean coal, encouraged andsupported the development of the coal preparation and

    promoted the adoption of dense-medium coal preparation

    methods of high efficiency.

    In late 1990s, in the promotion of policies and market,

    Chinas research and design units made a lot of research

    work in equipment, technological process, plant structure and

    etc., and China Coal Research Institute Coal Preparation

    Branch, as China's leading enterprises in the field of coal

    preparation, obtained a number of achievements in scientific

    research, led the progress of Chinas coal preparationtechnology, particularly, did a lot of work in the largeness of

    the dense-medium cyclone, so that the plant investment and

    operating costs were greatly reduced, and also production

    management and separation efficiency were significantly

    improved, and provided a good foundation for the massive

    industrialized promotion of the coal preparation technology of

    Chinas dense-medium cyclone.

    The multi-medium series of gravity feeding three products

    dense medium cyclone is the new generation of high-endtechnical product developed by Tangshan Branch by

    targeting at the problems during the large-scale development

    of cyclones and through the countless experiments by the

    research workers (invention patent No.: 02158903.8). This

    product is the key equipment used for separation of 0-100mm

    size fraction raw coals. It has such advantages as low energy

    consumption, long service life, convenient adjustment, low

    degradation rate of coal and easy model selection of

    supporting equipment. The supporting processes have such

    advantages as less initial investment, small occupied space,

    simple technological process and low costs.

    All key technical parameters are analyzed and designed

    using the international advanced computational fluid

    mechanics technologies;

    High separation sharpness, which effectively ensures the

    recovery of refined coal;

    Few wearing parts, low equipment maintenance costs;

    Large capacity and high top size, which meets the

    large-scale and modularization requirements of coal

    preparation plants;

    Low energy consumption and low medium-feedingpressure, which reduces the overall wearing and prolongs the

    Feed the qualified dense medium suspension of single

    density into the cyclone under the proper pressure. The raw

    coal is fed into the cyclone by relying on gravity to separate

    clean coal, middling and refuse successively, which has

    simplified the process and reduced investment.

    The separation density of the secondary cyclone may be

    steplessly regulated online in a convenient and flexible way,

    which guarantees the quality of the clean coal and middling;
